You know, Lesnar has done well to get a free ride to the UFC heavyweight championship after only 3 damn fights. He beat a nobody, he lost to Frank Mir, he beat the snot out of the unremarkable but experienced Heath Herring, and then he got to fight a Hall of Famer for the title and won a losing battle with a lucky shot and became the champ. It don't get better for somebody who was fake wrestling up to a couple years ago. he has yet to even defend his title and he's already acting like an idiot now that his rematch with Mir is coming up. Observe.
Seriously? Did I just see a grown man getting himself worked up watching a video of himself losing and go stomping off punching doors down as he goes? No joke? I think he was about to cry. It's also a bad idea to threaten to "punch the mustache off" a guy who will likely be in a position to decide whether or not your arm gets broken or how many times a guy gets to punch you in the face after you're already unconscious in the future. Just a thought. He'll probably be a great fighter someday, but for now he's simply relying on being big and having cinder blocks for hands. Couture was overpowering Brock and easily wearing him down before he got caught. and Mir caught him in a submission that very rarely succeeds against real MMA fighters. He whupped Herring's ass, but aside from one truly amazing power punch the performance was unremarkable and is still his only convincing UFC win. I hope he does fight Fedor someday. just not today because he wouldn't last a minute.

Ugh. So Brock finally beats Mir in the remtch at UFC 100 and then grabs the mic and says the following
“Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass. I told him that a year ago. I pulled it out of him and beat him over the head with it. [Now] I’m going to drink a Coors Light. That’s right a Coors. Bud Light don’t pay me nothing. I want to say Hi to my family and friends and, hell, I may even get on top of my wife tonight.”
Sold out, vulgar, stupid, a bitch, and an asshole. Dude's getting on my nerves.

Christ, what a dick. I don't know if the temper tantrum was maybe a little staged or not, but his victory speech, if you can even call it that, was disgraceful. Oh, and his wife is Yeah, he really did come across as a complete tool there. Although I can see his point; I don't watch UFC so I don't really know anything about the other fighters or the rules, but he did tap out a few times there - the hold should have been broken long before. EDIT - oh, and I moved this from Time Wasters 'cos, again, we're talking about SPORTS! I feel like a real guy for once.

Thought you might be interested in this, Trash; Brock talks about his comments and, you know, he seems pretty genuine here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_JmVJq-tpI&feature=popularBrock's comments start at around the 4 min mark. Seems pretty embarrassed by the whole thing, really.

Dana White has been trying to reign Lesnar's attitude in. He tried to stomp out of the pre-fight press conference like a dick and White had to PUT HIS HANDS ON HIM and tell him to sit down. Dude's got big balls. Maybe Brock is still in his pro wrestling frame of mind, but he's a legit athlete now and it'd be good to act like it because MMA is in serious need of respect and behavior like that is not helping. There's another vid of him talking about how he never respects his opponents because that makes you a loser or something like that and you can see GSP's head snap towards him like "what the fuck are you saying, dick?". But White had given us some great news by saying that he's determined to bring in undefeated heavyweight giant killer Fedor Emelianenko to see what Brock's really made of. This is going to be HUGE! I can't wait to see if Lesnar's ridiculous physical gifts avail him against the best heavyweight ever. Fedor took well under a minute to demolish 6'8 longtime UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia. I can't wait to see what he'll do with Lesnar.

So are you now in the frame of mind that you want to see Brock get his ass kicked? Have you lost respect for him? And on a lighter note, want to see what happens when he suplexes a 500 pound man off the top rope? www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K30gm2OFhY(Fake as all hell, but still funny)

That was sweet! I haven't lost all respect for him because his physical abilities are just reality-defying, but I really do want to see him get his ass handed to him just once by a more skilled fighter so he'll take it down a notch. He's been acting like a big dumb bullying jock and disrespecting people all over the place, which to me is just not cool in a professional sport that has been struggling with unearned negative image issues. The truth is, I think most of the folks in the UFC are the most sportsmenlike pro athletes I've ever seen. But nobody sees that. They see Brock Lesnar spitting all over the place and acting like a tool. The UFC damage-control team has gone to great lengths to purge the video of Brock's behavior from the web or I'd have it here. Now look again at the video of Lesnar talking about his loss. Mir had this to say about losing to the guy he beat last time they met: "He did a good job of neutralizing me in the stand-up. I got against the cage in a bad position, bad move against a guy that big and strong. I guess I still have more stuff to work on." That is how grown-ups talk about losing a fight. The messed up thing is that there are maybe two guys tops in the UFC that would even bother trying to take that guy on and I doubt they'll win. After that, what are they going to do with him, make him champion for life and send him on home? And he's only getting better from here; he's still a newb by MMA standards. Couture is too old, Minotauro Nogeira has about the same chance as Mir, and Mir will get one more shot, but at this rate it's almost Fedor or no one to reign this dude in.

Here's a more positive "spin" on Brock's UFC out and in-ring behavior and attitude, from Jim Ross, a WWE commentator and one of the main guys in the company;
"Lesnar's post match, unscripted remarks did not completely surpirse me. Those that do not personally know Lesnar as do I need to understand that his level of intensity and fury is scary. Brock has said many things in private conversations that I have been a part of that would make one do a double take. He is an intimidating, emotional jock who has been known for speaking first and thinking later. I don't think Brock is an inherently evil person whatsoever but his level of competitiveness can be dangerous. It's like Brock "moonsaulting" at Wrestlemania 19 in Seattle against Kurt Angle when being advised not to prior to the bout. Lesnar was told that men his size don't do top rope Moonsaults which was the wrong thing to say to the former NCAA All American and National Champion. Lesnar came close to tragically ending his athletic career that night while defying logic and doing what others told him that he could not do.
Lesnar, as I pointed out a couple of days ago, loves to be jeered...the louder the better. Brock takes his game to another level when he knows that it's him against the world. Former OU and Dallas Cowboys Coach Barry Switzer went into the College Football Hall of Fame and won three National Titles and a Super Bowl with that coaching style, "it's us against the world and the world wants to see us lose." When Lesnar, who detested the travel and emotional demands of WWE's schedule, was the most "hated villain" on the roster he was at his happiest in sports entertainment.
Plus, let's not forget that some people genuinely enjoy being a badass bully. Lesnar, in a ring, mat, or octagon, embraces that persona. Brock may say that he did not like school but the South Dakota farm boy is far from being a dumb jock. Lesnar has plenty of common sense and knows, as Eric Bischoff wrote, that controversy does in deed create cash.
The UFC knows that as well. All great promoters get that basic element of selling tickets and pay per views. "
But I think you're right, Trashy. If the UFC want to stay away from the puffed-chest mentality and "booooo, hiss" bad guys of wrestling, they need to reign Lesnar in. There's no other sport, apart from boxing, occasionally, where the competitors are assholes. It just doesn't happen (and should it? That's another debate) and guys like Lesnar will not only encourage younger up and comers in UFC to act like "heels" and tarnish the reputation of it, but it will also encourage the fans.
That being said, I don't watch UFC (we don't get it over here, but the sports company I subscribe to for wrestling recently bought the rights to show ESPN - do they show it?) and if I were to watch a Brock Lesnar match, I would totally want him to win, a) because I've heard of him and b) because of the amazing, terrifying monster he is.

They didn't show the last season of "The Ultimate Fighter" there? It was "US versus UK" so I figured it would be shown there as well since the UFC really wants to break big in Britain. Actually, a lot of American athletes are bonafide pricks. Basketball and football players especially, though baseball players are hardly immune. One redneck baseball player got in trouble a few years back for saying he hates going to New York because of all the fags with AIDS or something like that. But aside from the antics of Tito Ortiz, the UFC has been damn well-behaved.

Hmmm. The UFC may well be on in the UK, if that's the case. I'll have to keep an eye out, because from what you've shown me it could be something I could get totally into. It just needs more chair shots.
