Here I am, back again with another song of the week. This song was originally done in 1997 but it was the 1999 remix that gained it the fame it deserves...not to mention the smokin' hot Gaelle Adisson laying down her vocals. Since the 1999 remix, this song has been remixed several times and to those remixes I say FUCK YOU! This remix got it right the first time around. Not only that, I now can't listen to this song without thinking of the equally awesome GHOST IN THE SHELL since the original video was comprised of clips from the film.

OK, I could have sat and guessed what Wolfman's song of the week (LOVE this segment by the way) would be and I don't think I would ever have come up with this. I thought this was the sort of dross only the UK liked. And, ahem, I don't really think lyrics to this one were necessary.

Hate this song. Hated it then, hate it now. I like a lot of dance music but this is like a boil on the back of your neck.

All kidding aside, I like doing this segment here because

1) 9 times out of 10 a good discussion develops and

2) it's a great way to really dig into the depths of our knowledge and collections

I've never heard this song, but GITS is among the greatest sci-fi films of all time, animated or otherwise. How the hell did that connection develop?

But my question was WHY is there a connection in the first place. Why would they use clips from GITS for their video? Would Slayer just decide to use "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" to make one of their videos?

I think what happened was that Wamdue Project has always been a side project for Chris Brann. Given the time frame the song was released and the futuristic nature of GHOST IN THE SHELL, someone came up with the brilliant idea of just editing scenes from the movie to the song. Simple on a shoestring budget. It probably helped promote GHOST IN THE SHELL at a time it released on video (imagine that...holy shit) in the UK. Due to the popularity of the song, they eventually got around to actually filming a proper video but watching it actually makes the song sound....lamer, despite the smoking hot Gaelle Adisson appearing in it.
