Ladies and Gentlemen, here's day 3 of Dual Songs of the Day. Yet again I'm pulling Prince off the shelf and putting him up to your eardrums. Now you may have noticed I've posted songs from him that are generally flirty and dealing in some ways with sexual matters. However, don't judge a book by it's cover. Prince is quite capable of going much deeper in thought than his pelvis and he proves it with the two selections I have made today. 17 DAYS is a song written for PURPLE RAIN that was only released as a B-side. It's probably the best B-Side he's ever written, let alone amongst the BEST songs. It's quality is so stunning it even proves to be better than PURPLE RAIN itself. It tells of a individual who is hurting because of the lack of communication from the one they love most. Listen closely as you read the lyrics and try to remember when you've felt like this.
Sorry the sound quality isn't as good as I try to usually use, but it's the only one I can find. Thankfully there's lyrics for those who have trouble hearing.

SOMETIMES IT SNOWS IN APRIL is such a deeply personal and emotional song that my description here won't do it justice. Recorded in just one take (you can hear chairs squeaking and the hand movements on the guitar if you don't believe me) it tells the story of a person who has suffered the loss of their best friend because of an untimely death.. As the person tries to reflect on their past together, he comes to realize that maybe the friend who had seemed so strong in life and unafraid of death was just as scared inside as he himself had been...maybe more than he ever realized since his friend would not show it. In the end he realizes that everything his friend ever did was not because he was selfish, but because he was selfless....a form of love that no one can see until the moment it's too late.
I'm sure that hearing the heartfelt emotional singing and the beautiful music will melt the hardest of hearts out there...
