ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
When people click on reviews for Susan's CD, of course they aren't simply looking for the 4 or 5 star reviews they most likely agree with, they are looking to see the 1 and 2 star reviews and the reasoning behind them. The author of this review knows this and used it to his advantage. That's why this review was written in a particularly vicious way.....to get attention and provide the author people to "argue" with. Kinda like Adam Lambert's performance at the VMAs. Over the top "offensive" to get people talking and garner attention for Lambert and foes for him to emphatically rail against. That's really all this "review" is. It's not even so much a review as it is an opinion piece designed to provoke. And that would be ok if the review were actually funny. Not everyone can pull of mean-spiritedness in a humorous way, but that doesn't stop many from trying with humor that falls flat. I'm sure everyone knew this already. It's sad and laughable (pitying laughter, not derived from real humor) at the same time.

Oh my gosh. That was a HILARIOUS review. Not necessarily sure I agree with everything you say but I can't recall enjoying reading a review as much. Nice.

Mr. Curmudgeon,
Oh, how I would love to see what you look like! Are YOU considered attractive by today's standards? Were you one of those jerks who mercilessly teased those "as perceived by you" unattractive girls in high school and left them psychologically scarred for the rest of their lives? If you can't "see" through your own biases to accept this beautiful lady for what she has to offer then you have just made one of the most prolific injustices of today. Your eyes are wide open but you are not "seeing". I'm sure Ms. Boyle's voice will endure the test of time. I certainly hope the rhetoric you preach will not.

Looking at persons review history does not give me allot of faith in mankind!!! They most likely write these negative reviews just to see how many responses they get. All I can say is bitter pill!!!

Seems to me this pompous and vindictive review says a lot more about the reviewer than Ms. Boyle.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Did I miss something in your review? I thought we were reviewing the "album" not Ms. Boyle. I agree with others... she is beautiful from the inside out. Her singing isn't for everyone that's for sure, but why attack her personally and put everything about her down and be so insulting?
Curmudgeon, are you living YOUR dream? Have you had the courage to live your passion? What is your passion? Pouring out vindictiveness and spewing hatred towards a woman that had the guts and fortitude to get out there and pursue her dream?
No matter whether we appreciate her voice and singing, we should be applauding her fighting spirit and strong heart to just get herself out there. Her whole life has been subject to attacks by small-minded people who have nothing really to show for their own life. She has spent her life GIVING to others. What have you given to others, Curmudgeon?
Give her credit where credit is due -- she was willing to step forward and take the risk of failing again to live her dream. Have you done that Curmudgeon?
Share with us how you have passionately followed your dream(s) and are living your passion (in life).
Small-minded people say small and hurting things about others. Sad
I say BRAVO TO SUSAN... you go girl!!

Curmudgeon, you're my idol.
I don't really care either way about Susan Boyle's voice, but you were DEAD ON about her rise to fame. The idiots trolling you and bombing you with non-helpful votes are either missing the point entirely or are extremely thin-skinned crybabies who don't like it when someone strays from the herd being led by the media.

The Curmudgeon: I have a strong feeling that you are a failed musician who posts his talentless crud to myspace over and over and tries to get as many "friends" as possible to listen to his "music." So your little bitter rant just seems sad to most of us. I am a classical singer and I can recognize that Boyle has an exceptional voice. Who cares that there is --- gasp -- marketing now involved? Are you really that naive about the nature of the entertainment industry? Are you one of those ugly types who still laments the invention of MTV? And the idea that Ms. Boyle could "ruin" a Madonna song is such a joke.

That's why it's number one on Amazon? Because it is British and therefore will not make an impact in the US? Snort.

No, we all know your type, that's the problem. You are the guy who knows "real" music compared to everyone else -- the guy who likes the b-side of every hit (ahem) by The Ramones. And the guy who lives in his Mom's basement while dreaming of rock-n-roll superstardom, earnestly posting to his myspace page. Keep on dreaming. Curmudgeon. I am sure your day will come.

In my opinion this was a very nasty and cruel review. Opinion aside, which the individual has every right to, the negativity in the review was a real turn-off. Susan's looks have nothing to do with anything...she's simply an amazingly talented woman whose gift has allowed her to finally find her rightful place in the universe. Susan is kind, sweet and humble. In my book that makes her extraordinarily beautiful! Thank God she is not clever enough to be cruel.

"you were and no doubt still are a major loser."
Only pathetic wastes of genetic debris like yourself make four posts in a row. If you took the time to read my post, I'm indifferent about Susan Boyle's voice, I really liked the point that Curmudgeon made about why she became famous. The fact that you're making such a big stink over someone's OPINION of a musician really shows how much of a crybaby loser you are. GET OVER IT!!
