Curmudgeon:
Your review was very eloquently put and very well-written. Bravo for that. Unfortunately, you come across as an unhappy, arrogant and overall miserable person. While I agree that Susan Boyle's looks bear some responsibility for her success, that doesn't take away from the fact that she's a fantastic singer. Thank goodness that we noticed her! I'm a better person now for having seen her triumph over trolls like you. If you don't like her, then fine. But there's no reason to go off on her appearance like that. I bet you were one of those people who gave wedgies to nerds in school, right? Yeah, real mature there...

Ha, okay I just flipped through Curmudgeon's other reviews. He/she really is a miserable person...only giving 1-star reviews to everything, and going off on similar monologues for each one. I wonder...does ANYTHING make you happy?

You were clearly abused as a child, Curmudgeon, and therefore feel that gives you the right to ridicule and slander those who have gained a little fame despite phenomenal odds. (perpetuate the behavior) A little therapy might help. Let's see you produce a CD that sells as well as this one.

I haven't even read the "Comments" to your review, but I'll bet I'm probably the only soul out there who TOTALLY AGREES with what you've said. My relatives and co-workers all think I'm mean for not jumping on the bandwagon. But it's exactly as you say -- the fact that people are amazed that an unattractive woman can have a decent voice just shows how discriminatory they all are! A decent voice, that's it -- nothing remarkable or phenomenal.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
The only thing that bugs me about reviews like this is that their opinion is the best and only one of merit, and that if you do not agree then you are some kind of idiot. While you have a point on some of the IDEAS you present, your MANNER of presentation is rude, crude, and unnecessarily mean. And, these are only YOUR opinions, not the BEST opinions. Humans tend to share the view that being kind and fair is not only important, but also a great asset in debate. Had you exercised a little humility and been more aware of your own flaws then your comments would have greater weight, and you would be seen as credible. As it is, I find nothing you say to be credible. But that's only MY opinion. Let me share another: Susan Boyle is a fine human being with a special talent. It is really as simple as that. Nothing to analyze about her, unless we are each of us worthy of the same analysis, and most would think they weren't. So, just let it be. She's a great singer, a kind and good person, and her voice makes people happy. Nothing much left to analyze about her. Problems with the album aren't her fault, but the fault of the producers and corporate giants that have taken over her life like blood-sucking leeches and vampires.

Her looks have nothing to do with it.. a LOT of singers are not attractive...Roy Orbison, Brittany Spears, Mariah Carey, Babyface, Aretha Franklin. I think that she is filling a need for some softer, less ram-it-down-your-throat music that's missing in today's music. Whitney Houston and Mariah sing well but its always over-the-top screaming. Sometimes we just need a beautiful voice singing some beautiful music.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Mercier do you come from a parallel dimension where Bowie and Prince are terrible, not very well known musicians and Britney Spears and Mariah Carey were never attractive? Or are you just a weird mouth breathing, brain donor?
Just to help you out, this is a rhetorical question. Responding is discouraged as it will likely only confirm the obvious answer.

Britney and Mariah are less than average looking with a lot of paint and polish and I dont know anyone who would rate Prince or Bowie amongst their favorite anything, well, except for this Curm guy who has a bad case of arrested development and is stuck in the 80's techno-punk era.

Yeeeeah! And while you're buying that Madonna album, along with other stuff from such non-acclaimed hacks like Radiohead and The Beatles, Chuck Bladders will be over here ROCKIN OUT to Nickelback and Hoobastank.

Wow. For the record, people, The Curmudgeon feeds and grows stronger as your hate and anger are absorbed through the internet directly into his ego. But goddamn is it entertaining to watch you folks try. My favorite had to be the backward spastic who said Curmudgeon is a shallow celebrity-worshiper. In psychology, this is what they call projection, or taking a trait in yourself and judging others as having that trait whether they do or not. If it was about being famous, he'd be on the same bandwagon as y'all. And you will all be over this "greatest album ever" in months and glomming onto whatever "music" you can find being featured on television. Because everything great and creative in the music world only counts if it's on tv. And you wonder why this dude refers to you as "The Scum". And personally, a great voice is waaaaay overrated. Any retard can sing. I want people who can play, write, and CREATE. I'll take Bob Mould, Dylan, Lemmy, Mike Ness, and any other butt-ugly dude with no singing voice to speak of over any of this vapid reality television garbage that serves only to recycle other people's works for profit. Wild Horses? Are you fu#@ing kidding me with that!?!?! Wild horses couldn't drag me within a mile of this crap. Good day.
