 There are very few MUST HAVE DVDs on The Curmudgeons list. But this is going to be one of them. Looks nice, doesn't it? I STILL love it - the monsters look SUPERB, and there are some pretty scary moments in there too, as well as some excellent one-liners. One of the best "other" films from the 80's. While we're here - we've all talked about Terminator and Aliens and Predator and Die Hard as THE films from the 80's. But what are your favourite OTHER films from one of the best decades for film? |

"Vampire Hunter D" is THE animated action/horror standard as far as I'm concerned and an all-time cult classic that never gets old. Moody as hell, too. I'm really more of a 70's/90's kind of guy as far as my favorite films go. There's "Empire" and "Jedi", naturally, and "Batman" is an all-time great cinematic memory of mine along with the animated "Transformers: The Movie". I haven't seen that last one since, though, so I don't know how that's aged. "The Thing" is a true horror standard that has aged remarkably well and I'll leave with that so that some other Fortress denizens can have a crack. Edit: I take that back, I'm claiming "Evil Dead" 1 & 2 also!  |
