Misplaced Jedi quote aside, I think we'll all agree that THIS is going to be on our DVD Wants List. It's FINALLY here, after countless crappy vanilla discs and God knows what else.. BLADE RUNNER - THE FINAL CUT. Available in a 2 disc set. Awesome, right? Well... how about a FOUR disc? More extras than you could possibly handle without copious amounts of booze but.. BUT.. how about THIS? FIVE DISCS. In a fucking BRIEFCASE. You know what's terrible? I've never even SEEN this film. It's just always managed to pass me by on TV or on video, and I never bought it on DVD because of the whispers of a better version. Looks like I have no excuse now.. For full details of extra's etc.. check it out here.. www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/blade-runner-the-final-cut.html

Yeah, to be honest I would just buy the normal 5 disc set. What the hell would I do with a briefcase?

I held out on buying this film for years waiting for something like this. I finally broke down and bought it about two weeks before these special editions were announced. If you haven't seen it, you must hate science fiction or something because "Blade Runner" is awesome. "Wake up, time to die!"

Hey man, I haven't seen it but I really, really WANT to see it.
Does that count for nothing?!

Alright, the first viewings of the new cut are in and here is a link to an AICN review that discusses the changes made. Naturally, one should beware of spoilers if they have been under a very dark rock since the early 80's and don't know what happens. www.aintitcool.com/node/34373 Here are my thoughts on the controversy this reviewer brought up. Spoilers ahead (natch). I wonder about the Deckard-is-human crowd. I mean, besides the very obvious unicorn bit -which serves no other purpose in the film- Ridley Scott, director of said film, has gone on record as saying that Deckard is, in fact, a replicant. Insisting otherwise is like arguing with Bob Dylan about what his lyrics mean. Sure, you can assess the work however you like and make it relatable to you, but that doesn't change the original intent of the artist. This reviewer relies on gross coincidence (which is NEVER good storytelling), wishful thinking, and overzealousness to make his case. Sometimes (almost always), filmmakers make mistakes and have continuity errors and plot holes, but these shouldn't be overanalyzed and twisted to make the story into something it's not. I hate to sound like a hypocrite, but what a NERD! Now I really have to buy this set, though; stupid double-dipping no good....
