You know what, as much as everyone hated it, I rather enjoyed AvP. Maybe because I was dreading it and wondering just how bad it was going to be, but in the end I thought it was pretty cool. For those that wanted it to be a bit more graphic and less PG-13 - check out the trailer for Alien Vs Predator: Requiem. I think they're wanting to get the more adult tone across, in that heads explode, a girl gets pinned to a wall and someone even says "fuck." And you know what I think? I think it looks fucking AWESOME. Check it out here.. www.avp-r.com/trailer.htmlThoughts?

The trailer looks great, and far more "adult" oriented than the original. Of course, trailers frequently distort the truth, so it could still be a total crapfest. The trailer also seems to show an unnecessary large number of deaths - I hope those were all extraneous or minor characters.
The first AvP was pretty cool, but it was very toned down and at times took a turn for the silly. Remember when the female lead was running in slow motion from the Queen alien at the end? Unintentionally hilarious!

It's nice to see there's no big name stars in there though (same with Avp, I suppose). At least we know the stars of the movie are the ones in the title, and it's "Ashton Kutcher vs.." or something horrific like that.
Consider me.. anticipating.

I was happy enough with the first one to buy it, but after watching it a few more times I've realized I like it more for laughs than anything else. Towards the end it did "take a turn for the silly" as xfiruath would put it.
AvP: Requiem does indeed look awesome. I wasn't aware they were making a sequel until now, but I'm definitely excited. The trailer looked very promising.

The original. One R-rated classic versus a second R-rated and the result is PG-13? Some ol' BULLSHIT!!! Not a bad film, but it should have been awesome. I hate Paul S. Anderson with a passion , please tell me he isn't directing the new one. The trailer, now. Fuck yes, I am now officially feeling AVP. That was all I could ever want. But here's a bit of correction, (NO....must... not.....reveal....extent of.....geekiness) the novels explicitly state that almost never can an unarmed Predator expect to survive a one-on-one with an Alien. They rely on technology and teamwork to hunt the second-deadliest game in the universe (would you believe we're #1?) so that bit where he's holding an Alien in each hand like it weren't no thang didn't work for me. Damn it, now my nerdy ass will never get laid again should I get a divorce with such sadly obsessive observations splashed across the internet for all to see. Oh well, at least there appears to be a totally kickass AVP movie coming out!

Dammit all, Trashy - that's the kind of nerdy observations we LOVE here in the Fortress. What, a knowledge of the source material and a wish for it to be adhered to? Why is that a bad thing?
I for one haven't read ANY of the AvP series (and I didn't notice the Predator holding the two aliens up), but even without knowledge of the comics that's still a bit... far fetched (well, in context, anyway). It would make sense that a normal Predator couldn't beat an alien without weapons, so maybe there's a reason he's holding two. PredaHulk, anyone?

Oh, my my my... I like what I see...
I'm wondering if Requiem is another word for "Forget the first one"? Where's me Thesaurus?!
Toodles!

Yeah, could be that the predator in that scene is some sort of super powered Hulk type. Maybe they decide to run with the whole predator-alien hybrid thing that showed up at the end of the original? I know that idea has ticked off a lot of people, but I'm pretty neutral to it. If it's done well, great, if it's just a lame gimmick, whatever.

Anyone else get a kick out of the Predator with the whip?

That whip was pretty bad ass. I hope that gets some liberal screen time.
Maybe it's all just flashing by too fast, but did it seem like there is a scene there where a woman is standing there, and then she morphs into an alien?
