Frank Miller on occupying Wall Street

So if you've kept up on American news, I'm sure you've heard of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Basically a bunch of people just now found out that 1% of the population own 99% of the wealth and their response has been taking to the streets in major cities to protest corporate greed. Fight the power and all that. Will it accomplish anything? No, but it's got to be making some of these unscrupulous fucks nervous and drawing some attention to corporate corruption, and I'm all for that. Now, Frank Miller. Back in the day, he was all about this stuff and fought the good fight against censorship and for artists' rights over corporate ownership. But that was before he was a Hollywood-approved millionaire. Let's see what he thinks about the downtrodden's impotent attempt to get their voice heard.

Wow. Just wow. I've been thinking that Miller may have been cloned and replaced by DC after the Sin City film, and this confirms it. That amount of overzealous hatred, pretentious melodrama, and nonsensical ranting ("Woodstock nostalgia"?) is unheard of outside of FOX News. "Spewing their garbage, politically and physically"? Like, they are literally vomiting in the streets? Is that what he means? And suddenly bringing up Islamicism out of nowhere. My God. This dude has seriously lost his shit. I'm not cheerleading for OWS or anything because I feel like the bulk of the movement have no clue what exactly they are even protesting or hoping to achieve, but hearing something that bizarre from an artist I've had so much respect for is and has been so sensible in the past just shocking so I had to share. Anyone else find this bizarre?

OK, there's a well respected hero suddenly losing all credibility with one baffling article.

So if the American people dare protest at the situation they find themselves in, they're either spoiled brats, hooligans and RAPISTS(!) or, why not, letting the terrorists win? What in the name of holy fuck is protesting against Wall Street have to do with Our War on Terror(tm)?

I'll admit, I haven't heard much about this whole thing. Over here the news mainly focuses on the whole financial crisis this whole world is in. The US is screwed, Greece is screwed.. it's never very comfortable viewing. But hey, if we comment on that, are we supporting suicide bombers? And hang on, "Woodstock nostalgia?" What, are the protesters all 70 years old?

Stick to the funny books in future, Frank.

He's not good at that anymore either. Man, what the hell. Now looking back at all the protesting for the First Amendment (freedom of speech), artist creativity, and ownership of their creations has a whole new tint. Dude wasn't fighting for freedom and creative rights because of his moral fiber, he was just looking after his own pocketbook. I would not expect that from the man who wrote this scene:

It was from Batman: Year One. They finally animated it a while back, and yeah, it's pretty damn good.
