First, a quick history of DC gaming. I've been playing games based on DC Comics characters since the nonsensical Atari 2600 Superman game.
Yes, that's really what it was like. Fast forward to modern gaming and you've got nothing but a string of failures up to the two recent Batman games. A Superman arcade game that was decent, but you died REALLY easily, and then there was the Justice League game with only few playable heroes and you couldn't choose who you wanted to play as, and Superman 64, which is known as one of the absolute worst games of all time. So earlier this gen, we got Mortal Kombat vs DC, a game I recently got for free but haven't bothered playing yet. But the word on it has not been good, what with all of 10 playable DC characters and nerfed fatalities. Meanwhile, Marvel has had more great games than I can even count right up to the legendary Marvel vs Capcom series. So why can't DC get anything right other than Batman when it comes to video games? Well, looks like they are about to hit us with their best shot, and it looks like they may fail again. Let's have a look.

First off, another fighting game? By the people who already failed at it? 'Kay. Looks like it could be cool. I love the premise of DC heroes going bad, but here's the thing: they have yet to make a decent game of these guys (not counting Bats) being heroic. Is making the legit JLA game of our dreams just completely out of the question? Anyways, this is on my watch list, but a whole lot is going to be determined by character selection so I'm going to say it one more time: no Black Canary, no sale.
