When you first play it, the Paper Mario franchise seems like an abomination of all that is good in the world. A beyond 2D (everyone is flat.. y'know, like paper) adventure that is less about jumping on people's heads and more of exploring a world, talking to the characters and solving puzzles. A series of RPG-lite capers that, once you get used to it, will have you staying up till 3am to find that last missing ingredient to put in the chef's recipe. Trust me, if you've played it, you'll understand that reference. The plot may be fairly basic (and the dialogue often excruciating) but behind the cutesy graphics lies some ingenious gameplay, with the sort of new ideas in gameplay you really only get with Nintendo. So, with that in mind, when I heard there was a new Paper Mario game coming out, I was overjoyed. I wasn't sure how it would work out on the 3DS, but as you can see from this trailer, they've not only embraced the technology packed inside the technology, they've also pushed it, and the genre, to pretty damn mind blowing new heights. Check this out; www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=3U2cTOnhMmU&NR=1I'll be queuing up outside the store for this one.

I remember the precursor to these games, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on the SNES and it was surprisingly awesome. I've never played Paper Mario, but it looks like good stuff.
