So yesterday a talented and accomplished director killed himself by jumping off of a bridge, leaving film fans of the world with one less of those to battle the likes of Michael Bay and Paul WS Anderson. Scott (brother of the even more talented and accomplished Ridley) decided to end it all presumably after finding out he had an inoperable brain tumor and opted to cut to the chase rather than suffer through the agonizing process of slow, painful, cancerous degradation. I'm anti-suicide in almost every case, but this time I'll cut the guy some slack. That's a pretty bum deal. I just hope his family is somehow comforted that he got to make his own choice. Scott directed a lot of classic films including Top Gun (which is hilarious seeing that Scott was British and that is the biggest "America, fuck yeah!" movie ever made), True Romance, Enemy of the State, and plenty of other high profile thrillers. He also produced the undervalued erotic horror series The Hunger (named after his Bowie-starring vampire movie), which was quite enjoyable and featured some really great actors in it. The man had a great career worth of tribute and I salute him. Rest in peace.

I heard about this today. Very sad indeed. This board is seeing it all with dead celebrities passing through here more and more. But this guy deserves a shout out. He must have been in a pretty dark place to be at that point and the only thing I can be happy to say is at least he's not there any more. Rest in peace dude.
