If you even go online recently, you'll find someone, somewhere frothing over the upcoming iPhone 5. There's also talk about the new Wii from Nintendo and.. really, where else can we GO with all this stuff?
Personally, I own an iPhone 4s, an iPad 3 and a PS3. And, seriously, I cannot imagine how these things will be topped. Sure, new things will come out with slight improvements (the differences between the iPad 2 and 3 are almost pitiful), but I cannot fathom a time where I look at my phone and think, "man.. this shit is OLD." I mean, it does everything that I could reasonably want. Besides, y'know, phoning people, I can go online with ease, play every available online game and even watch movies and TV shows if I ever lose my soul and decide to go down that route.
Ditto the iPad and ditto the PS3. What else can we squeeze into these things that aren't already there? The big buzz is 4G, which means you can download things in seconds. Big whoop. I want to download a song on my phone? It takes ten seconds. A game takes 60. I have no interest in ever watching any movie on my fucking phone, so that's a bust, and the transition from disc to iPad takes minutes. So it looks like "slightly faster" and "better camera" is pretty much the only things we can look forward to.
We've seen from articles before that any new "improvements" in gaming seems to lead to irritating tinkering and "social media" updates that are just going to get in the way of the game itself. Can graphics really get any better? Can they improve gameplay or make it more immersive? Like... fucking HOW?
So am I showing my age or what? Are things as good as they're going to get?
