Dunno if you've seen this, but a Mountain Dew online ad has had people falling over themselves trying to say how much it offended them. Today's hurt parties? African American's, because it's racist, and women rights groups, because it promotes violence and threatening behaviour towards women.
The guy who made the advert is a rapper known for his often misogynistic, violent raps, Tyler the Creator, so that probably doesn't help matters any.
It's hard to find the actual clip itself because Pepsi scurried off to delete it from the world, and Youtube is full of 10 minute videos of people talking about how terrible the clip is without showing the damn thing itself, but here's the best I could find.
So.. unfunny and weird? Yes. Racist and offensive? Not really. I mean, the line up is "racist" because it's got five black guys in there, but those are all members of Tyler the Creators band, so it's as offensive as a Fleetwood Mac ad made by Stevie Nicks featuring the rest of her bandmates. Does it REALLY make light of beating woman? REALLY?
Ah, these fucking times we live in. Thoughts?

If they'd replaced two of the black guys with white men, would everyone still be up in arms? I'm can see why people think this commercial is racist (because people in America are sensitive idiots), but I just don't see the "most racist thinggg evurrr" whatsoever.
Here's what Mountain Dew should've done: put 3 white dudes and 2 black dudes in the line-up. Make the victim a geeky white male. The cop/investigator assisting the victim as *HE* observes the line up becomes a woman. Now black males are underrepresented in the criminal group, meaning it isn't racist. The victim is a male, so it's not sexist. And the cop is a woman, so then it's REALLY unsexist.
Oh, and make the goat a human too. Wouldn't want to offend any of those farm animals.

The goat's the cool one? How so? Because he can talk? Are they saying that black people are too stupid to talk? Dear god. Didn't they just say that they gave creative control to the group? So they were being racist against themselves, then. Fantastic. People are fucking pitiful.
