When Kurt Cobain wrote that famous lyric, I doubt he could have imagined a world where every high profile tragedy was met not with an outpouring of grief and a need to understand why it happened and how to prevent it from happening again, but instead a collection of ever more bizarre, reaching and desperate conspiracy theories that spread around the world faster than the actual facts about the case itself.

I'm not just talking your usual Black Helicopters, Illuminati conspiracy theories either, but after 9/11 and the "inside job" gossip and spooky music, slowed down footage with a blurry object circled in red pen Youtube clips began surfacing, it seems that every horrible event that happens is, in fact, "A FAlSE fLAG OPeraTION!"1 and proof of aN inSIdE JoB!"

James Holmes shooting up a cinema? There were TWO shooters! The guy in court is NOT James Holmes!
The Sandy Hook School Shooting - There were TWO shooters! Again! The grieving family members are ACTORS!
The Boston Bombing - There was a man on a roof before it happened! This matters for some reason! And the grieving family members are ACTORS! Again!

So what to make of all this? I must admit, I'm a bit of a ghoulish sucker for things like this, even if it is all clearly bullshit. But, even I have to remain a bit puzzled with this footage..



That's odd, isn't it? I mean, I have no idea how I would be if something like that were to happen, but I doubt I'd be yucking it up with the camera crew before hand. Strange.

So what do you think? Is there anything at all to this stuff, or do we just have too much time and access to internet on our hands?

I'm pretty much done with all this. There's just too much of it and even if its all true, what exactly are we going to do about it? On one hand, if there is a valid motive, there is goddamn NOTHING I would not put past the government. Any government. If you think about it, "government" and "organized crime" are bordering on synonymous and the idea that we govern the government with votes is stupid when the vast majority of the population relies 100% on media that is owned by the people who fund the people you vote into office to keep "informed".

As far as the guy joking before the official clip begins, that's hardly conclusive proof of any conspiracy. I've obviously never lost a child or anything, but I do typically deal with emotional pain using (often inappropriate) humor and I have no idea what was going on in his mind or life. And the reason he got "in character"? Well, the news has never been any more legitimate than a reality show in my lifetime. They may report things that actually happened, but HOW they happened or WHY or from what perspective? Consistently bullshit. I have no doubt they told him to sob it up on camera because the news has only one actual goal: get people to watch. And people want exactly four things from their news: gore (but not too much gore), tears, gossip, and somebody to tell them they are right and everyone else is wrong.

I get some entertainment out of conspiracy theories but this recent stuff is just too much. They're so far-fetched it's unbelievable. I can prove it, too: the people to "expose" these "cover-ups" are all still alive. Surely a government capable of bombing its own citizens during a family event like the Boston Marathon would have done away with these people long before they went public with their findings...

What's more, when's the last time a politician has gotten away with anything? We know who they talk to, who their friends are, what they eat for dinner, and who they're fucking. We catch them any time they deviate from the path. Granted, I'm sure there's behind the scenes dealings we don't know about, but a lot of that shit gets exposed too. I refuse to believe a government so inept in so many ways could possibly pull off something as elaborate as an inside job and subsequent cover-up of the Boston bombing or Sandy Hook.

And with Sandy Hook conspiracy theories the common motive I see is "OBAMA WANTS OUR GUNS!!" That might be true, but so far Sandy Hook has done next to nothing to influence firearms legislation. So, uh, good work conspiracy theorists.

Beats me. I'm in the same boat as you. A buddy of mine mentioned something about getting a federal disaster response team real-life experience. If that's the best these theorists got...

Dumb. Here, I'll come up with a better conspiracy theory right now. What if Obama planned the Boston Bombing so that he could have a team of fake conspiracy theorists make everybody roll their eyes so that they don't believe in the REAL conspiracies! That's right, the government are the ones spreading baseless conspiracy theories in order to discredit the real conspiracy theorists, so the bombing was just an excuse to further that agenda. Open your eyes, people!
