There's no replacing that feeling when you FINALLY topple the end boss, when you survive whatever trials and challenges the game has set out for you and you are victorious. A Winner Is You. Sentimental soul I am, on the truly great games I always get a slight tinge of regret, like, "well.. that's it. Game over. No matter how many times you replay this you'll never get that same buzz that you just had."
How many times do you GET that, though? I'm currently on the very last stage of Resident Evil 5, and it's just too fucking hard. Can't beat it, and the more I try the more frustrated I get. I can feel myself slipping away from it, defeated forever. If I try and go back to a few months down the line I'll have forgotten the controls and I'll be out of practise and.. well, the terrorists win.
This seems to happen to me a lot. I get so far in a game and I either get another one and end up playing that, or I just can't get past a certain stage and a game ends up unfinished.
So are there any hard-core gamers that complete ALL of the games they play? Or am I not alone in my weak willed, give up 'cos we suck attitude?

I pretty much finish every game I buy and very seldom come across something I can't handle given a few goes. If I'm desperate, I can always look the solution up online. You probably aren't playing the right games. When you're playing something really great, giving up isn't an option any more than shutting off an awesome flick halfway through and never bothering with the rest is. You HAVE to see the end. Resident Evil has pretty much become a joke now, anyways.

Ha, yeah, I must suck.
Like, a perfect example would be one of the Spider-Man games. Played it, loved it.. then I had to chase the Vulture. Just. Couldn't. Fucking. Do. It. And everytime the Vulture would escape he would say "Ha! What's the matter, Spider-Man? Too fast for you?" I can still hear that fucking voice even now.
I'm currently playing Max Payne 3. I loved both original games (completed the first one) but I just can't get past a stage and I die every single fucking time.
This has never happened to you..?? What am I doing wrong?

Most games let you go to the options and change the difficulty at any time. Maybe try putting it on "easy" just until you get past that one part?

Only the ones I really like. Other than that, all of them.

So I have been hovering around this thread for a while and thinking I should have a good think about this. Short Answer is, No. I do not complete every game. The reason is simply because when I bought the bulk of my games (just pre ps3 era) games were insanely cheap second hand. I found myself getting all those games that I saw were awesome and never got round to playing them. However, here in 2013 after an extended holiday to the old family home I have found myself revisiting a console with out achievements and updates and completing those games I never got the chance to (Summoner, Silent Hill, Eternal Ring etc.) and it's all on my trusty PS2. They carry well most of them and in all honesty it's never to late to play a game. Especially if you can appreciate things for their time - i.e by not being a graphics snob. If I buy a game these days and don't complete it, it's because it has failed to win me over. Which can happen quite easily. It's got to be good pretty much most of the way through the game, I can handle dry patches but let's take FF XIII, that game, oh that game. I wanted it to be so so good - it was just fucking awful. A waste of 40 quid and around 15 hours of playtime. I was so miserable about it, I put away after two 7 and a half hour stints and never opened it again. But that's for another thread. Talking of being stuck, it happens Curmudgeon; games are designed to be a challenge, if you're stuck - 8 out of 10 times its because they have done there job right (especially these days). Practice makes perfect, the more you play games the better you become at the them in general and especially so on the retrospective genre your hammering. COD/Battlefield although insane online, it gave me some amazing skills in First Person shooters such as james bond games and even third persons shooters like RES 5.

Ah man, another FFXIII hater. I really enjoyed that game. Eye-melting graphics, new innovative battle system, decent characters, and the best summons ever. Not the best of FF by any means, and it took way too long to get going storywise, but once it opened up it was pretty great. It sure as hell didn't need to be a trilogy, though. I have no idea what Square was thinking on that one. Why make a trilogy out of the least popular game in the history of the franchise? I mean, I'm a fan of FFXIII and even I'm not planning on getting the third game. The second one had its good points for sure, but they fucked up by only having two actual playable (uninteresting) characters for the entire game in a battle system built for three and a franchise known for character variety. Mark my words, this last game will sink what used to be my favorite video game company.
