Ha, I suppose that did come out of nowhere, didn't it? The clip itself was originally from a gypsy page from Facebook.
I'm a tolerant chap to pretty much every race and culture, but I've never seen one nice gypsy. Ever. It's not a racist "keep those foreigners out" rant, it's the British fuckers I have a problem with. Maybe it's a British thing, but the British gypsy's are notorious. Really, really bad. I once worked in a shop where we had "traveling people" in, and hey, I tried to be nice. They had a bunch of their kids, some in bare feet, gather round my till with bunches of coins asking "how much can I get for this" and "can I take two of these for this?" to try and confuse me. Oh, and one of the ADULTS then went into the bathroom, took a shit, stuck his hands in it and wiped it all over the taps and mirrors. What a colorful bunch they are!
I'm waiting to meet a nice one to change my mind.

They had a show on TV not so long ago (I think you get it in the states too)called big fat gypsy wedding. It was absolutely ridiculous. It featured British gypsys and their weddings but showed how they court each other first and how the wedding is planned. Now before you look at the below pictures please remember that many of these people do not work and get state benefits paid for by the taxpayer.  The above picture is not even an actual bride she is a teenager on her was to her prom. Can you imagine the cost of this alone.....     the above "beauty" was only 1 day past her 16th birthday when she married her 21 year old husband. The ceremony cost £50,000 and Gypsy girls in the UK are often pulled out of school and set to work within the household performing chores and looking after the younger family. This is sure to be the life for her as she enters "married bliss" and possibly will have to end up doing so alone as her new husband faces Jail for handling stolen goods. I am not saying that all travelers (thats what they prefer to be called, even though most of them do not travel but squat in a caravan on someone Else's land) are thieving, benefit scrounging, layabout, criminal scum. But this tv show did nothing to change my mind and the ones I have heard about and met are much the same. Maybe it is a British thing, I am sure the true Romany people are probably nothing like that and loathe the association but this is what I think The Curmudgeon meant with his rant. |

I know that gypsies in Europe have a shitty reputation, but I've never really heard firsthand why. I figured there's likely a lot of crooks in the mix, but I had no idea about the welfare thing. I've actually had a customer at a restaurant I work in paint the whole bathroom with shit before. What in the hell makes people think that's a good idea? It's got to be grosser for them to pick up their own shit and smear it about than it was for me too pull a pressure hose into there and clean it up.
