Thought we'd take a look at modern video game staples that you see in almost every game now. Obvious ones like hearts giving energy, saving in churches (RPG's only) and wanting to crush your controller into powder at that little bastard Mario who totally made that jump but died anyway in this bullshit game.
I'll start with a few..
The moving elevator with no roof where enemies pile in. I was playing, of all things, a Spyro game on the PS2 last week and this happened, and I realised I'd seen it lots of other times, from Resident Evil to Final Fight.
The irritating tutorial at the start of the game. Seriously, when did this shit start? Some annoying "companion" who seems to know everything you don't, yet is still prepared to let you go on the dangerous mission knowing nothing but what you're instantly taught.
The "press X" now cut-scene action bit. This pops up ALL the time now, from the new Resident Evil games to the Batman franchise. Boss fights usually, but it's pretty irritating all the same. Especially when you don't press it in time.
Can you think of any more?

The quicktime events ("press x") are really getting old. Since I've been switching back and forth between PS3 and Xbox 360 and the X button is in two different places, I am finding these more and more annoying. Honestly dude, there are too many to count. Eating food to instantly heal gunshot wounds, for instance. This gif mocking Bioshock Infinite is my favorite. It has thins amazing intellectual and emotional story, but when you think about it, you spend half of the game digging through trash cans and shit eating everything you find. Heroes who die instantly if they touch water is pretty played out too.
