I'd actually mean to pick this weeks entry earlier on in the series, even as early as week two I think, but it is is a BITCH to find online. I'm not even sure this link I have now will even work by the time you read this. You never know. The Gods may be smiling. So the last video was admittedly pretty damn old, and even though this one is way more recent, man does it feel like a completely different time. A fucking better time, truth be told. A time of Music Television. A time where actual BANDS had actual hit songs on the radio that were great. A time when American alternative rock was just untouchable. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, R.EM..and this weeks band that, if tragedy hadn't struck, may have been mentioned in the same breath as those bands. But, sadly, the lead singer died and even though they're still plugging away now it was their one major hit they will always be remembered for. But not really remembered, and that's the point of this whole series. This song will always be one of those "oh yeah, I remember this one" single, and that's a shame. It deserves better. Anyway, it's "No Rain" by Blind Melon which should hopefully be able to be played on the link below. vimeo.com/m/47590227

Why would that be a bitch to find? It's one of the most iconic songs and videos of the 90's. A one hit wonder for sure, but definitely an inescapable part of the soundtrack to the last great rock music era.

I wonder if it was a bigger hit in the US than over here? I checked Wikipedia and while it cracked the Top 20, I don't remember anyone outside of Real Music Fans ever talking about it. But yeah, it's a bitch to find the official version of on YouTube. Puzzling.
