Unfortunately, I couldn't find a decent video for this week's pick, but since it's one of my favorite punk tunes of all time, I'm picking it anyways. The band has been with us since 1979 and is one of the most storied and influential groups to ever come out of the hardcore scene. They started and continue to run one of the most successful independent record labels in the world; one that's made the careers of bands like Rancid, the Offspring, NOFX,the Hives, and Pennywise and been home to the Descendents, Frank Turner, Social Distortion, Refused, Weezer, and dozens of other respected acts. They are a band with a logo designed to offend the vast majority of the American population that still managed mainstream success, largely due to their irresistible signature vocal harmonies. Their lyrics are some of the most thought-provoking out there, their music is everything punk is, and Greg Graffin's distinctive gravel-voiced melodies are something even my wife can get into. He's also an evolutionary biologist/geologist/zoologist with a PhD who's taught at UCLA and Cornell University. The song is Generator and it's my favorite from one of my favorite punk bands. Enough said about that, I guess. Enjoy. Also, I really need to own this shirt:

You know one of those bands you've heard OF but never actually heard? I can now strike another from the list.
Simple, powerful image as a logo, fairly straightforward but nevertheless powerful music. One major thing that stops me listening to a band (there's a thread coming about that later) but I like the vocals as well. Yeah, another hit, Trashy. Your music collection must be pretty fucking bad ass.
