Your work here is done, Roddy. (OK, third wrestling related thread in about a week. Hell of a sad one, though. 61 is way, way too young to go).

What is going on with all of these wrestlers, man? It's been a bad few years. Piper was simply the most entertaining villain the WWF/WWE ever had. Only Randy Savage even compares. Even when I hated the guy as a kid rooting for the heroes, I was always excited to watch him because he was so naturally charismatic and entertaining in everything he did. That move he did where he's pretend to wind up for a punch and then poke his opponent in the eye made me laugh every single time. One of the greatest of all time, in the ring and on the mic. Look out, Jimmy! Rest in Peace.

Well said. It's weird, I think you started watching wrestling way before I did, because when I started Piper was a good guy on commentary, it was only through old tapes etc I saw him as the glorious bad guy he once was. If you're interested, here's the video package WWE did for him the night after he died. Mrs C lasted about sixty seconds before she was in tears. Should get the nostalgia flowing.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBMTYUjuuMg

Nice, but it didn't capture how fucking great he was in the ring. On top of having the best personality, the dude was just so much fun to watch. I remember I was super pleased when he turned good guy because he wasn't beating up my heroes anymore and I could cheer for him unabashedly. Just an amazing entertainer.
