There's an oft repeated line from the Dark Knight, where "you either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain." But what about the other way around, though? Ric Flair once said he had to turn into a good guy because the people eventually loved him, despite him being a cheating, dirty heel. Flair even commented on Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, saying that if Ledger had lived, and the Joker was in the third movie, the writers would have had no choice but to turn him good. So the more I thought about it, the more it kind of makes sense. Comics, movies, TV..more often than not classic villains do turn away from the dark side of the force. Darth Vader being a prime example. So let's play a game; let's see how many examples we can think of where the bad guy done good. Movies, TV, comic books.. all that. I'll start... Let's see if we can keep it going..

Nothing touches us more thana bad guy who feels that touch more towards the light. Theres a whole psycology there I imagine. Attachments:

Theres a whole psycology there I imagine. A few in films of different varieties TV and anime are rife with it. Dexter made an entire show out of that exact angle. And boy was it glorious. Gaara did it beautifully in Naruto and heck DBZ that pretty much did that with every single character even the main good guy (who was A Moral) Goku.

Bardock, vegeta, piccolo, majin buu, yamcha, puar, oolong, goku, yajirobi, baba, android 18, android 16, eighter, tien shinhan, chaotzu, fire black star dragon (something shenron) - all of these guys and more in Dragonball did it. It's a beautiful mechanic when executed just right. In such a show where it is used time and timr again, it has to be deep enough so you don't get bored. Attachments:

Dexter was always good, lizard was good to begin with. MY 5 are. Also my Fave. If only so I can post a Photo of my favorite swashbuckling rapscallion. and finally During the 9 seasons of this show he was the slimy sidekick of Michael Scott but along the way he had his compassionate moments. BY the end of the show he was a bonefide favorite and 'Good Guy' with even the last episode centered around his characters eventual happy ending.

I'm feeling kinda schooled here because I don't recognise some of these at all. The anime guys from Quillford's is, I think, Dragon Ball Z? Maybe? Trashy, I recognise some of those, but again the Anime one's have me lost, and who's the guy with the gun? Good call on Lecter, though.

The guy with the gun is Captain Cold from the Flash show. The first anime guy is from Avatar: The Last Airbender and the other is from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which is one of the most philosophically complex, dark, and fucking brilliant animated series ever made. If you only ever watch one anime on Netflix, that's probably the one to see (along with the third movie which acts as the finale whereas the first two were a recut of the TV series).

I was going to go with the Terminator but Mrs. C beat me to it. How about Geoffrey Rush in Pirates of the Caribbean? Darth Vader in Star Wars?
