He's baaaaaaaack... www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2015/09/23-1/toho-opens-official-website-for-2016-shin-godzilla-film"Shin" is Japanese for "true" and the director has stated that he plans to emphasize the religious awe of the king of monsters. Not being anime fans, you may not appreciate how unbelievably fucking awesome it is that Hedeaki Anno is doing this, but rest assured this man is a genius and is likely to give us the greatest kaiju film of all time if the studio will let him. The guy combined sadistic character-based storytelling spattered with symbolism, badass action scenes, and hardcore sci-fi for Evangelion and changed the way anime fans thought of giant robots forever. I literally cannot fucking wait to see what he does with the Big G.

The visual of the new Godzilla is designed by Anno, and its size is expected to be the largest in the 60-year-old franchise, much bigger than the recent one appeared in the Gareth Edwards-directed American film in 2014, which was 108 meter tall.
Damn, he's gonna be a BIG, Big G.
Yeah, I don't anything of the guy's credentials but I'll take your seal of approval as proof of something to look forward to. I was a big fan of the Gareth Edwards movie but was always keen to see another Japanese Godzilla movie. This sounds like it could be great.

Evangelion is pretty much the most masterful anime ever made. Just crammed full of art and allegory to the point where it takes multiple viewings to even grasp it. He's not afraid to experiment or be as brutal or divisive as he feels like being. The film finale of Eva actually contains snippets of death threats he received and at the premiere he filmed the audience before the screening and then edited it into the film before it started so at one point during an anime, the audience was staring at themselves on the screen. That is to say that with him at the helm literally anything could happen. What's not to be excited about?
