Found this list online of "seriously under-rated" sci-fi sequels. A few I haven't seen, usually because I had absolutely no interest, but most of these range from eyebrow raising to "the fuck outta here" screen punchers.

Robocop 2 is a grim, depressing but worthwhile movie. Alien 3 has terrible effects, a shit alien but a decent (if buzzkill) story. But Spider-Man 3? Rise of the Machines? Nah, I'm good, bro.

Escape from LA? Basically, it's a parody of the first film rather than a proper sequel. A film that can only be enjoyed ironically can't really be underrated. And because there is one good scene in The Lost World, it's underrated? Please. Oh and Jean Grey standing behind Magneto glaring for most of X3 totally made that movie. Right. Chronicles of Riddick was pretty cool and Blade 2 is the best Blade, though.
