So me and Trashy recently became friends on the Playstation Network (or PSN as the kids are calling it), and while it's nice to see what people you know (or, well, sort of know in this case)... is there any point to it? Do you need to know that a guy you went to High School with watched Youtube today? I don't need to know that the guy I work with listened to Spotify 3 times yesterday and unlocked a trophy in Medal of Honor, but I know it anyway.
So am I missing the point of it at all? Is it just like Facebook but for gamers? So you don't actually share what you did that day in the real world, but you let everyone know what you're doing online, in case anyone gives a shit?
Is that it?

I don't know, man. Not my thing. It's cool that you can take screenshots and record gameplay videos and all, but I really don't make much use of it. But broadcasting gameplay and "Let's Play" videos are a big thing now so clearly this is how society is trending. I actually made an in-game J-pop music video in the game I'm currently playing and was going to share it with my PSN friends as a joke (#2gay4u), but it turns out that you can only do it by linking your account to Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc. Eh, no thanks.

I read an article on Buzzfeed/Cracked or something a few weeks ago about how Facebook is pretty much integrated into everything we do online now. A guy got removed from Facebook for something he didn't do/crime he didn't commit, and suddenly he found he couldn't call a lot of his friends because their numbers were through Facebook, he couldn't message them because the messenger service was through Facebook. Couldn't access his photos because, well, you guessed it. A huge number of mobile games keep your game saved through Facebook. Talk about a stranglehold. My Facebook account was suspended for three days due to my trolling fun and games and you find out just how dominant Facebook can be. You're better off out of it.

Yeah, not happening. There's nothing social media has to offer me. Absolutely nothing.
