There seems to be a huge amount of almost gleeful reviews coming in for Superman vs Batman, reveling in giving the movie negative reviews. And call me perverse, I'm almost getting a gleeful thrill reading them. And I don't even know why. Here's some Super zingers for you. “No major blockbuster in years has been this incoherently structured”No major blockbuster in years has been this incoherently structured, this seemingly uninterested in telling a story with clarity and purpose. If there's any justice, dawning or otherwise, at the multiplex, audiences will reject Zack Snyder's lumbering, dead-on-arrival superhero mélange, a $250 million tombstone for a genre in dire need of a break. The overall impression, and I haven't seen it, seems to be that it seems to follow the same wretched formula of the last Superman movie, all naval gazing sullenness without any of the wit, humour or even likeable characters that Marvel do so well, before descending into more CG-laden fight scenes and explosions. Basically everything the Avengers movies could have been but weren't. It'll still do enormous money but it really does seem to be everything we thought it was going to be.

Yawn. Figured as much. Too much quality on Netflix and Hulu for me to even get out of my chair to bother with this. I'll give it a rent sometime. I wonder if DC is really going to follow through on their series ideas. Aquaman, Wonder Woman, etc. are going to be a hell of challenge to a sell if people are already balking at the first attempt. And Sandman? Good. Fucking. Luck.
