CM Punk's UFC career did not impress. Too bad, if he had the skills to back it up, he'd make an awesome personality for the sport.

Yeah, totally. It's gotta suck to train your ass off for two years straight and then promptly lose in he most basic possible way to a newbie they hand picked for you to have a possibility to beat in front of millions, but I guess that's what happens when you go straight to the big leagues without accumulating that experience. And it's not like he's Brock Lesnar, a 300 pound wall of gorilla flesh on steroids with NCAA wrestling cred and enough athletic ability do this: Punk's what, a welterweight? At that size, skill and experience matter big time, but there's definitely something to be said for having the balls to get in there without having massive physical advantages over your opponent. Like Ben said, respect.

Ah man, I feel for the guy, I really do. I wanted him to do well, if for nothing else to stem the "hur hur, wrestling iz fake and gay" comments that no doubt followed it. He really seemed to take the loss hard as well, going by the interviews after it. I just.. I don't know what he was thinking. He's in his late thirties going into a 100% different environment (this environment being you are actually supposed to hurt the other guy).. and like Trashy said, he's not some freak of nature walking fucking tank like Lesnar. It's a shame he didn't do better, but I don't think anyone really expected him to. Saying that, though, let's not cry ourselves to sleep over his loss. Gall took home $30,000 for the match. Not exactly chump change, but Punk got a $500,000 fee win OR lose, alongside a percentage of the PPV buyrates and a Reebok sponsorship on top. Not bad for under three minutes work. And when you think he comes home to this AND he could walk back into an instant main event position in the biggest wrestling company in the world tomorrow (where, you know, he actually IS "The Best in the World"), I think he's in a pretty good position... with an admittedly sore face.

Damn. 10/10 wife, would take beating of my life for. Side note, Conor McGregor has taken to feuding with the WWE now since the Punk debut was announced. www.dailydot.com/upstream/conor-mcgregor-versus-wwe/The "twice on Sundays" thing always makes me chuckle. Perfect for every situation. The possibility of Mac actually fighting with these ancient behemoths has been far too discussed on MMA forums since.
