Playing video games all day. Yeah, you've got your classic Resident Evils and Silent Hills and your slashy good times like Naughty Bear plus modern awesomeness like Alien Isolation, which made me grind my teeth down to nubs with insane tension. But sometimes less is more, ya know? Got $2? Good. This is what I'm on about:
That is the first of three games included in the Lakeview Cabin Collection on Steam. Each provides you with a horror movie scenario, a group of victims, and a shit ton of possibilities which mostly end in gruesome death. The levels themselves are tiny, but they are jam packed with all kinds of potential insanity. Eventually, a killer will show up to murder all of you and how and if you survive is all up to you. You can either set up elaborate traps in hopes that you can get the creepy killers before they get you, kill your characters yourself (and potentially resurrect them as zombies to kill again) just 'cause, or you can just drink, screw, and smoke until you puke and let nature run its natural course. And by that I mean somebody slips on the puke. There are a ton of secrets to find so losing over and over again just provides you with more opportunities to find new ways to kill and die. Good thing too, because this shit is HARD!
There are so many little touches and things people will miss if they cheat using walkthroughs. Like the first time I killed the initial murderer only to find out the hard way that he had a friend when I walked back across the level and found my buddy's head nailed to the outside of a building. Or if you get two campers nekkid and put them in a certain bed together, the resulting "action" knocks a key loose that can then be used to open a door in another building that holds a shotgun (but where are the shells?). Or you can just get the axe and break down the door. Whatever floats your boat. Also, you can float on a boat. Amazing little game. It's super cheap until tomorrow so if you read this and are looking for something a little different in video game horror to occupy your weary mind, now is good.
