No spoilers please, because I'm only two episodes into this season so far.
Which, in a way, gives you an indication how far from essential this show has fallen. Before Hotel, American Horror Story was instant view TV, something that didn't have time to sit on the Sky Box before we watched it. Hotel was a drag to get through; ridiculous, over-egged and just not scary, even if Lady Gaga was just a vision of desire the whole way through it. It sucked, basically.
I'd read a few comments that this new season was even worse, so it was with a grudging, heavy heart I finally watched this season... and it's.. pretty good, so far.
I'm not a fan of the reality show aspect, cutting to the "real" people for talking head segments really takes me out of the show, and I can't shake the fact the scary stuff is "recreation." It might have a point that I haven't got yet, but I can't help but feel the "TV show within a TV show" is just one gimmick too far. Well executed and exactly like the sort of hokum you see on these "reality" channels, but it really detracts from the horror for me.
Like I said, early days. Is it worth sticking with?

Haven't seen it. I cut the cable cord this year so if it's not on Hulu or Netflix, I can't really watch it. I probably COULD, but meh. Losing the UFC and the CW pulling all of their DC shows were the biggest losses, plus no Walking Dead or Better Call Saul, but I can catch up with all that later. I had no idea what AHS was even about this season. A reality show? Sure, why not. Those are television's true horror stories now, after all.
