After watching Kong: Skull Island (and it's post-credit scene) I realized something. This shit could work. That's two consecutive good movies under their belt and a willingness to give us the full-on modern American kaijuverse Japan has denied us for decades. That's more than DC/WB seems able to manage. Skull Island may have been the very picture of a Hollywood popcorn flick, but them action scenes were awesome with some fantastic shots. Throw out the corny and obvious CCR-fueled soundtrack (The Stooges and Bowie can stay, though) and learn to character development and it would be excellent. Let's just hope it doesn't go the way the DC movies are and end up like this: When what we really want is a new version of this:

Well I came in to post a thread about Kong but I've been beaten to it.
And yeah, I'd say Godzilla was the better movie overall, with a better script and better characters (and no fucking cringy "dear Billy" lines, yeesh) but if you want a movie about King Kong, I'd say this was a damn good attempt. Kong was bad-ass in this, the action sequences were fantastic and that post credit scene gave me goosebumps on my goosebumps. Fucking King Ghidorah?? Holy shit.
I am on board.

I'm actually most hyped at the prospect of a new Rodan. When's the last time we've seen that? The '90s? And no solo film since the original in 1956. I'd love to see a remake.

Basically, some organization brings in a couple characters and tell them that this world wasn't always ours and now the previous owners are coming to take it back while images of cave paintings of Godzilla, Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan show in the background. Then you hear Godzilla's roar as it fades to black.
