So bad it looks like satire. From the corny attempted Marvel lines to the modern and painfully cheesy "Come Together" cover to Aquaman saying "yeah-ya!" like he's James Hetfield riding on the Batmobile, nothing about this looks cool. Nothing. Wonder Woman is DC's only hope for a decent franchise at this point.
Now this came out of nowhere. The trailer is obviously aimed at fans of the franchise, and I had no idea why Netflix is making this a film instead of a series when the anime is among the best examples of what television can do that movies can't. Also, the internet will explode when they realize that they cast white people in a Japanese property. Still, could be awesome if it's handled right. The anime is a true classic and an amazing concept.
Last but not least, how long have we waited for this? Felicia Day is the love of my life and Oswald seems a promising choice. It looks like their hearts are in the right place for this to happen. I'm so in.

Well, you've kinda killed one of the threads I was going to make today, Trashy, but we'll run it here.
Namely - the Justice League movie. Now, I have a friend who, for some reason, is convinced this is the movie that's going to make Marvel tuck their tails between their legs and head for the hills. And, honestly, I've no idea why. He pretty much forced me to watch Batman vs Superman today and.. hoo boy. Where to begin with on THAT shit? Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor can sit comfortably with Doctor Doom and the Mandarin in the "What the fuck are you doing with my villains" list. Like.. the Smallville TV show was 15 years and 3/4 of the time it was terrible, but THAT is how you do Lex Luthor. And then there's the terrible script, the "oh, I have cut my hand and smeared it on this dead Kryptonian. That obviously equals Doomsday." The whole thing was a colossal mess. Add to that the shiny, loud turd that was Suicide Squad and the fucking dire Man of Steel and you've got a wretched franchise on your hands already. Why my friend thinks this is going to change anything I just don't know. Cos it won't. And I don't have high hopes for Wonder Woman, either.
Death Note I had heard of, and I've already read about three articles from outraged fans about "whitewashing", so you were right on the money there, Trash. Looks promising, I'll be checking this one out, although I thought it WAS a TV show. A film is a bit of a disappointment.
And MST3K. I'd heard it was coming and had read the various crowd-funding messages, but I wasn't on board at all. New cast, new voices..blech. This trailer does give me slightly higher hopes though. I loved the original series so much so I'm.. cautiously optimistic.

Yeah, after the Ghost in the Shell thing and then people even getting offended that Iron Fist was cast as a white person on the basis that only Asians are allowed to do kung-fu (which frankly sounds like something a racist old man would think, and besides Bruce Lee already won that fight for us. Literally.), I figured this would be a given. As if there isn't already a massive Asian film industry that regularly includes white characters cast as Asians and American and European properties remade in their image. Seriously, people: cultural appropriation is not a thing. Just because something is invented by an individual or group of a certain ethnicity does not mean that only people of that ethnicity are allowed to use it. There's a reason we got rid of all of those "coloreds only" ad "whites only" signs in the South. Because segregation is bullshit and poisonous to all involved.

May as well keep this thing rolling.
Moments like this is when I wish I'd seen a trailer in a movie theater instead of online. The sailboat scene with the Derry street sign would have given me goosebumps if I didn't already know I was watching the trailer for the new IT. Looks like it could actually be good.
A lot of good and bad here. I have to say that I'm becoming annoyed with the amount of Stark in these. I mean, if there is one hero in the Marvel Universe who doesn't need an Avengers boost, it's motherfucking Spider-Man. He's pretty much Marvel's Batman, beloved by all, decades of history with dozens of legendary stories to tell, and with the most prodigious stable of villains to mine. I don't really see the need to plaster Iron Man all over this film. Hopefully, most of his scenes are in the trailers. I love Downey's Stark, but this is Spidey time. I dig Vulture's apparatus, but kind of wish they'd cast somebody like Dennis Hopper or another elder statesman of villainy to play him. A young Vulture just feels wrong. Still, high hopes for this one.
