I've been away for most of the week, travelling Hellish journeys to get to a friends wedding. This is why I never wanted friends.
Anyway, you forgive movies, especially comedy movies, for maybe running a little fast and lose with the truth and reality. It's just a movie, right? You don't expect them to get things right. Especially in something like a court room scene, and all the detail that would go into making something like that completely legit.
But then what a comedy that got the court room scenes, and really it is a legal court room comedy, so completely 100% accurate that it is recommended and shown in law schools for all prospective lawyers? There's only one movie that can lay claim to that. And it's My Cousin Vinny.
A lot of people will think of Joe Pesci and think his greatest role was Casino. Or Goodfella's. Another demographic will probably say Home Alone. Uh-uh. It's this.
If you haven't seen it, a couple of teenagers get accused of robbing a gas station and murdering a couple of people. They were both seen at the scene of the crime and it's pretty much an open-shut case and they're both going to get the chair. Enter Joe Pesci, their uncle, who's never even been in a court room but is the closest they have to a lawyer because he once went to law school.
It's super smart but super funny, the judge (who also Herman Munster, can't keep his loathing for Pesci's arrogant New Yorker with super hot girlfriend Marissa Tomei as they fight the case. And it really doesn't get talked about anymore, and it's a shame because it's easily one of the best comedies of the 90's. And just think, people are actually MADE to watch this for education.
