Yes, really.
Picture the scene; your friend and humble narrator sits down to check what's happening in his Fortress of Solitude. He clicks the link in his "favourites" and.. nothing. It links to the proboards site that The Fortress comes from. He tries again. Still nothing. He types in the address himself - same thing happens.
The Fortress.. was gone.
So I log into the "help" desk and read the Terms and Conditions to running one of these sites. No hateful, profane, insulting... oh oh. That's basically 90% OF this site. And with me leaving links here and there to this place on "enemies" like Leon Jackson websites etc.. I thought someone had complained and the site had been binned.
A few hours later - still nothing. Then I get a reply from a guy on proboards. Seems the site HAD been breached, due to "suspicious content". OH-OH. But it wasn't anything "hate filled" from your trusty Curmudgeon.
Cast your minds back to a thread about UK singer Lily Allen, and the Sun newspaper printing a topless pic of her when she was underage. Well, because I reprinted that same dodgy pic I was getting investigated.
Bottom line - the thread, comments and picture have all been removed. But this website has not. I think, because it was in a "satirical" POV that the site wasn't wiped, because printing pictures of that nature is NOT allowed on here. Who knew? I mean, who actually reads any of that TOS shit anyway?
So, that's my story. Another reason to get all paranoid and believe that we really ARE all being watched, but another thing to put on my list when it comes to "reasons to be cheerful this year." The Curmudgeon's Fortress of Solitude is STILL up and running - that's my first Christmas present right there.
