Ok, ok, ok, ok...this was a "foward" in e-mail but at least reading through it I thought to myself "Hey...this would help us get to know the other members a bit more directly." Or whatever lame excuse to create a new thread it was that popped up in my mind then.

OK, I'll have a crack at this..

A) Four jobs I have had in my life

1. Working in a transport cafe.. AKA Greasy spoon.. Would you like some lard with your lard?

2. Petrol station person... Complete and utter skive.. 12 hour nightshifts, only 2 (total) of which I did any work... The rest were spent doing stuff on my Amiga which I took up with me (no laptops back in those days, folks!)

3. Security guard.. More 12 hour shifts of doing absolutely toss-all. Any signs of trouble were met with a swift phone call to the police while I let the bad boys get on with breaking into whatever they wanted.... The work seemed to think I'd actually give a crap if anything gets stolen? Hell, no!

4. Computer Technician... Pretty much what I've been doing for over 10 years now, albeit in different places... The themes are common - the work is fine - it's just the people that are gimps!




B) 4 movies you watched over and over again

1. Weird Science... Fast Man... Let me tell you my story, man.. What a GREAT film... I loved this film.. I stumbled on it playing at about 1am on the TV, and proceeded to burn the arse out of the video I'd recorded it on... Funny, funny stuff.. And, erm, Kelly Le Brock in a boob-tube type t-shirt... SNORT!

2. Star Wars/Empire Strikes Back/Return Of The Jedi
I've lumped these all together because they all got played forever.. Screw the prequels. Screw the special "ooh, look, shiny effects" tweaked editions.. I love the originals, and always shall... Even if the Beard has introduced some highly questionable money-grabbing practices with them.

3. Flash Gordon
MMmm...MMM! Another one of those "I don't care what you say, I love this" type film... OK, so the 2 leading cast members are a trifle oak-effect, but come on! Look at the love that was spent with the look of the ships, characters - everything!! Flash, Flash, I love you! (Gently darling, it's extremely sensitive. Ed)

4. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Y'know, it's hard to quite put my finger on why I love this one so much.. Logic dictates it should be Wrath of Khan I'm going for, but I'm afraid I'm sticking to my guns.. It's got the lot... Superb effects, warm characterisation between the main roles.. A not completely obvious plot... A screaming moustache-twirling, scene munching baddie.. 2(!) lots of The ManGod Shatner fighting himself! Awesome... She'll fly apart! Fly her apart, then!!! Ooh, I've come over all goose-bumps thinking about it (erm, go lie down. Ed)...

D) Four TV shows you love to watch:

1. 24... OK, so it's utter, UTTER, UTTTTTTEEERRRR nonsense.. And you can drive a fleet of trucks through the plot holes.. But, dammit, it's entertaining.

2. Boston Legal... I wasn't a huge, massive fan of Ally McBeal (she looked like she'd snap like a twig), so I wasn't overly hopeful when this came on (same creator)... Thankfully, it's superb thanks to its largely barking absence of logic and the two finest characters to grace our TVs recently in the shapes of Alan Shore (James Spader) and the incomparable Denny Crane (ManGod Shatner, carving out another classic character)..

3. Supernatural... It ain't Buffy.. It ain't Angel.. Its two main leads are quite obviously just there to get the panties moist, but it's a hugely enjoyable chunk of entertainment - so long as you allow for certain trademark McG logic bypasses.

4. Doctor Who... The original and the new series.. OK, so Auntie Beeb has probably pissed off numerous Whovians (as I believe they're called) with some of its decisions about this - like calling it series 1, 2, 3 etc... However, as has been said on this very site - we NEED this kind of show... I heartily recommend the purchase of the new series 1 and 2 DVDs... Guaranteed you'll be finding yourself using the word "Fantastic!" far more often that you ever thought.



E)4 Places You've Been on Vacation

1. Florida (got my piccy taken with pretty much every Marvel and Disney character going - much to the grumbling of some pain in the arse parent who took exception to the fact that I was in the queue before their whelp - piss off, I paid for my tickets - I'm getting my photo taken with Spidey!)

2. Greece (Corfu) - nice. Burned to a crisp, but nice.

3. Spain (during December - NOT recommended).. Memorable only for the massive amount of pissheads there purely for the cheap flight and all inclusive drink (I wasn't one of them).. Oh, and because that's where I proposed to my fiancee.

4. Bulgaria.. A great place... If you can overlook the culture shock you get when driving from the complex and see the shocking contrast outside with kids begging and all that...

OK, I'll have some of this. And hey, who am I to disappoint Wolfman's predictions?

A) Four jobs I have had in my life

1. Bacon delivery boy - no, really - there was such a thing. I had a basket, I had bacon - and I had to walk around door to door selling the wretched fucking stuff. Talk about humbling. I was 14 and lasted about three weeks.

2. Assistant in music shop.

Sadly, it wasn't a music shop like, CD's. It was a music shop like, drums and guitars. And with NO knowledge, NO training, I was supposed to sell things like VIOLINS to posh parents and their spoilt brats. While they were asking me questions about the different sound you could expect with different strings, I was looking for a socket to plug the damn thing in.

3. Stock control officer.

Well, I say "stock control officer", more like "here is all the shit in our store. Put it in places we can find, keep a record of it and don't steal any. It was easily one of the worst jobs I've ever had, and as a result I acted like a complete dick to my manager who HATED me. Everyone called him "Mr Hines" (even other managers) so of course I called him "Jim." He got the last laugh though, when I accidently put through 100 books of 12 stamps through the computer as, er, a stamp. Guess who got sacked?

4. General assistant.

This was a shop job that SUCKED but I was so glad to get it because it meant I could live with my (then) girlfriend. Crap pay, crap hours and the managers (husband and wife) were complete dicks. It was awesome though, because I only lasted three days until I got a better job. So I went in that morning, bright as a button. I told them I was leaving and he said "well, obviously you're going to have to give us a couple of weeks notice - we are very short staffed." I kinda laughed and said, "uh.. no, a couple of hours notice. I'm leaving today." He actually turned his back on me and said "well..that's just not acceptable. In fact - that's just SHIT." I laughed again, "yeah.. well, them's the breaks!" We don't exchange Christmas cards.

Movies You Watched Over and Over Again.

1. I'll count the Star Wars trilogy (ORIGINAL, natch) as one. I could tell you those entire movies word for word almost. Except I'd look kinda sad. And by sad I do of course mean awesome.

2. The Wizard Of Oz. Everytime I went to my Gran's house she would play this or some other movies that weren't as good. This was one of the first video's I bought and then, when VHS was put in the bowels of hell where it belongs, one of the first DVD's I bought. Quite possibly my favourite ever film - it NEVER gets boring.

3. Flash Gordon - so many reasons I watched this over and over as a kid. The great first fight scene ("Go Flash, Go! Go Flash, Go!"), the rocket ship scene ("flying blind on a rocket cycle??!") but probably because I liked the brand new feelings I was getting watching watching Princess Aura.. oh my.

4. Jerry McGuire - sorry to blow the whole fan boy Sci-fi thing, but for some reason I actually remember watching this about five times in a row - twice in one night which is weird given its a three hour film. It had me at hello, I guess...

Four TV shows I love to watch..

1. WWE - scary thing is, I've got a feeling I always will...

2. Simpsons - endlessly quotable, forever enjoyable - its created its own universe and is head and shoulders above any other animated crap on TV.

3. Lost - it's one of the few shows where I'm looking at the clock going "oh no - it's almost finished!" I love it.

4. Doctor Who - I've made another thread about this, I know. I was never into Doctor Who (not really, anyway) but when the new series came on I thought it was just such a breath of fresh air compared to the other mainstream dross on TV. The fact its such a hit is like some wild dream.

1. Italy – was there two years ago and it was the best of two worlds – culture and art and beauty during the day, and blind, drunken foolishness every night.

2. Florida – was the first holiday in YEARS that I didn’t touch a sip of booze. It was also the best holiday EVER.

3. Lanzarote – went for my Honeymoon. Awesome place, but, nyah, wouldn’t go back. Unlike..

4. Gran Canaria – a place we’ve been five years in a row now. Honestly, we’re like those couples that wear matching tracksuits. It’s a week of sun and binge drinking and we know quite a few people over there now, so what’s not to love?

A) Four jobs I have had in my life

1. Dishwasher/busboy for 4 years: three at the shithole Golden Corral and one at the immaculate Denny's. Ever seen the movie "Waiting..." It's not exaggerating one bit. I love working in restaurants, but the pay is absolute shit. I needed 2-3 other jobs just to support my girl and I.
2. Farm worker for most of life: Mine is a farming family in a farming community so call this mandatory indentured servitude.
Cali's Central Valley has some seriously extreme weather -from ice everywhere (not snow, solid freakin' ice) to 100+ degrees in the shade- and I got all of it while hauling bales of hay, chopping down massive walnut trees with a very small and very dull chainsaw, traipsing up and down miles of trees with a huge backpack full of herbicide on my back, and pruning trees in a mobile tower that allowed me to look waaaaay down on the power lines (cured my fear of heights, though!), and other labor that assured I was never going to be a wimp.
3. Indian Casino cash clerk for 4 years: pretty good pay, but this was the most demeaning, frustrating, and harrowing experience of my employment life. Native American businesses don't have to worry about silly little things like labor laws and employee rights (their land is sovereign) so we got treated like absolute shit every single day by management, customer, and co-worker alike. Good God, I could database my stories about the Tachi Palace online and keep you guys reading for days thinking I must be lying because nothing could be that horrible.
4. Laboratory technician at a mozzerella cheese factory: my current, best paying, and overall best employment experience. Good people, solid management, and honest work for honest pay. Who could ask for more?

B) 4 movies you watched over and over again

1. Jaws: almost always the first film that jumps to mind when asked to name my favorite movie of all time.
2. Pulp Fiction: still my favorite Tarantino flick and so utterly quotable I have to make a physical effort not to impersonate it's characters on a daily basis.
3. Vampire Hunter D: ran into it on a late night showing and fell head-over-heels. It's the very first DVD I ever bought and the reason I'm a massive anime freak. Chalk the sequle up here, too.
4. Godzilla: most of my earliest memories relating to film are of this big green lizard. That classic black-and-white shot of Godzilla silhouetted by flames against the Tokyo skyline has been etched into my brain for as far back as my memory goes. That film just electrified my imagination and time and time again I left the video store with my mother clenching that VHS tape in my greedy little paws and rushing into the door to my home to see it all again. The love affair continues to this day.

C) Four places you have lived:

1.Hanford, California: where I was born, lived out most of my life,and live currently. All of the other towns on this list are within 15 minutes of this little city.
2. Corcoran: where I lived when I was very young (until I was about 11 years old) in the middle of nowhere. Large fields of cotton and a whole pack of dogs to call my own were my friends. No wonder I'm so socially maladjusted.
3. Armona: half white trash, half illegal Mexican immigrants, all ghetto. Lived here for three months with two friends (a couple) from work who took full advantage of my good nature while we lived in near squalor. I was out many hundreds of dollars as a result, but I met my wife there and have a lifetime of funny stories to tell so I'll say I came out ahead in the end.
4. Laton: I lived with my father here for about a year after my experience on my own in Armona. I worked my ass off on the farm and spent all of my free time harassing my wife-to-be.

D) Four TV shows you love to watch: (current I'm guessing)

1. Family Guy: Yeah, it's no Simpsons (best. show. ever. but you knew that), but I gotta be different. I enjoy the random, pointless insanity and downright vile humor.
2. Supernatural: I'm going to second this one because it's way underrated and the second season was about ten kinds of awesome.
3. Lost: Man, that season 3 finale was earth-shattering!
4. Battlestar Galactica: A nice little slice of sci-fi heaven. I only wish I'd been bright enough to catch it from the beginning. I'm catching up on the DVD's now so I can be ready for the new mini-series and upcoming final season but where the hell is the season 3 boxed set?

E) 4 Places You've Been on Vacation

1. Pismo Beach: heaven on earth is a scant 3 hour drive from my hometown. I haven't been for over a year and it's almost physically painful for me to be away from the ocean for that long. I've almost never left California in my life because it's got damn near everything a body could want: sun and surf on world-class beaches, beautiful women everywhere, snowy mountains, Disneyland, Hollywood (that's a good thing and also a very bad thing), awe-inspiring forests, deserts (if that's your cup of tea). Plus, I'm lazy. And broke. It's a damn shame that the cost of living is so high here and good employment is about a bitch to find if you don't have a serious college degree.
2. Denver, Colorado: boring? Kinda, but I have some family ties there and it's one of only two places I've vacationed outside of my home state. The skiing's great though. Too bad I can't really ski.
3. Washington DC: where it all happens. If I'd been older when I went there, I'd probably have gotten myself arrested yelling obscenities at the scum who call themselves our federal government. Still, it's an amazing place to visit; the Smithsonian Institution alone could keep you busy for days and the monuments are a sight to see in person.
4. Los Angeles: I knew I'd arrived last time I went when we came up to the video store with a MASSIVE homemade sign advertising "Paris Hilton XXX". Good ol' LA, how I love and loathe you; home of both punk rock and the rich and decadent. I looked down and saw Bruce Lee's star on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame". Then I saw Ryan Seacrest's and my warm fuzzies turned ice cold. Gandalf and a stormtrooper greeted me as I looked at the handprints of Hollywood's legends, then I looked up and saw a sex toy shop. Oh yeah, there is no place like it on earth. At least I hope not.

3. www.celebnewswire.com/ I know how this looks, but check it out. The writers are funny as hell and they only report the celebrity news worth reading. Who got photographed drunk or nude, who's getting locked up, who said something impossibly stupid, etc. This is not a celebrity worship site. Just the opposite.
4. www.amazon.com The wonderland we know and love so well. I tap this for mass DVD reviews and make 90% of my online purchasing there. Their selection is awesome and they have the best service I've come across bar-none. I spend a significant amount of time writing reviews for niche products and compiling my favorite things into lists for my fellow shoppers' perusal.
