No, really, I mean it.. www.freeindie.com/2007/04/bumpershine.htmlIf you do, kiss at least an hour of your life away. You have to make as many coloured blobs touch each other with one click of your mouse. It's so easy to play it's insulting. And it is VERY addictive. Don't say I didn't warn you..

Easier gameplay usually equals more addictive gameplay, as long as none of the other elements of the game are poor. This kind of reminds me of the cell phone game Johnny Crash and it's various sequels, as that game also only has one single button to control everything and it's highly addicting. Took me a couple of tries to realize you don't have to click one of the balls, you can click anywhere to make your initial explosion. That makes the game a lot easier as you can start off your chain reaction in multiple directions if you time it right.
Another really addicting game is Pocket Tanks(http://www.blitwise.com/ptanks.html), a throwback to the 80's style games like Scorched Earth. That one actually isn't free, but I definitely recommend buying it and it's weapons expansions.
Warthog Launch (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/warthog) is a pretty cool free game that gets addicting quick. Turn the volume to max - the grenades exploding really make this game.
I'm an amatuer programmer myself, and playing bumpershine has kinda got me in the mood to pick up one of my old projects again. I was working on a comedic asteroid clone called Roosteroids for a while but then got bored with it and dropped it. I'll have to post some screenshots when I get to my home computer and let you guys know if I ever actually finish it.

For anyone who is interested, screen shots of Roosteroids can be found here: www.darklance.net/images/rooster1.jpg www.darklance.net/images/rooster2.jpg www.darklance.net/images/rooster3.jpgThe basic story behind the game is that the Alabama Roasted Rooster (ARR) company decided to expand their rooster roasting operations into space to sell to all the astronauts. Unfortunately an experiment aboard the mother ship Rooster-1 went terribly awry, mutating the roosters and making them immune to the vacuum of space! At the same time a black hole spontaneously appeared nearby, twisting the laws of physics and making it impossible to escape the area (I always wondered why you just appeared on the other side of the screen in Asteroids like it was Pacman - this was all I could come up with). Game play is very similar to the original asteroids, with a few twists. You play as a hot shot pilot aboard the prototype ship Cockmaster 3000. Shooting the large roosters splits them into two smaller ones, then shooting the smaller ones splits them into a random assortment of wings, thighs, and breasts. If you allow the wings and thighs to plummet to Earth they will be cooked as they re-enter the atmosphere, and the people of Earth will receive an ARR meal for free! This is unacceptable, so you have to collect the chicken pieces with the buckets attached to the side of your ship. As the pieces float around in the cold vacuum of space, they start to acquire "spacerburn", so the more frozen they become, the less points they are worth. My brother-in-law, Evil_Zarzma, did most of the sprites, with the exception of the explosion graphic, which I stole from Megaman until we can make our own. So far it's being programmed with C++ exclusively using the Win32 API, although I'll probably switch to DirectX whenever I finally figure out how all that shit works.
