You know, I STILL get that feeling; that feeling when you complete a superb game, a game you've got addicted to, enjoyed, swore at, sweated and and finally completed - and then that weird feeling of sadness that its all over, as you watch the end credits roll by for the first time. Video game endings; today they have no excuse to be anything but cinematic masterpieces, but in the days of the SNES and Megadrive (Genesis to you Jet Age Americans), a real ending could make a good game great, like all your hard work was worth it. Thinking about it, I suppose my favourite video game ending is for Street Fighter II - a different, character specific ending for every fighter, meaning you had to master the game for every character. I also liked those games that had good/bad endings (the first I remember being Sonic the Hedgehog 2). The worst offenders were the "CONGRATULATIONS! GAME OVER." type endings - of which, thinking about it, there really were quite a lot. So, game endings - what ones do you remember? What's your favourite and your worst, bearing in mind that no game can match the sheer awesomeness of THIS end message..

After hours and hours and hours to beat Rampage I got shit. Here's a video of some hirrible NES endings: devoted2gaming.com/2008/classic-consoles/worst-nes-game-endings-ever/Best ever? Again with Final Fantasy IV. So utterly satisfying no gamer could ever ask for more out of a finale. [sighs happily] More recently, Guitar Hero 3 has you thrash it out against Satan himself to the tune of "Devil Went Down to Georgia". Cool as fuck and hard as hell! When you finally win you get your ass handed to you as the credits roll and you get to test drive Dragonforce's "Through Fire and Flames"; possibly the most insane lead guitar song ever recorded. METAL! \m/

Wow, those are some SHIT endings (although the "Cool School" one is actually, well, pretty cool).
My favourite from that collection? I think its Ghosts and Ghouls? With "Congraturation. This story is happy end. Thank you. Being the wise and couragour knight that you are you feel strongth welling in your body."
My new word for the day? Gotta be strongth.
