When I went to see Iron Man on Sunday, among the (awesome) trailers; which included Speed Racer, Incredible Hulk, Narnia and, um, Kung Fu Panda (boy did that look out of place) was the Will Smith starring Hancock. Gotta say I wasn't in the slightest bit interested in this when I read about it; a drunken no-good superhero played by Will Smith? I expected "Bad Boys III; This Time He Flies". But, you know, this doesn't look half bad, and nice to see the continuing rise of Jason Bateman, even if he does have to play second fiddle to Smith. movies.yahoo.com/feature/hancock.html?showVideo=1There are far too many brilliant looking films out this summer for me to go see this, but it looks a definite rent. Thoughts?

Could be a good time. But it looks like it may lose the humorous tone after a while and get all serious (see: boring). "Zebraman" had the same problem, but was way more original. Plus it had a Power Ranger fighting the ghost from Ringu (she was doing reverse handprings!). Awesome. I'll wait for the reviews and decide then. The whale toss was totally fucking hilarious, though.

I just hope there's an actual super villain in the film, they've just decided not to show you him/it/her in the trailer. Maybe that cyclone thing was it, I dunno. But its hard to imagine anyone having too much trouble "saving the world" from normal bad guys when he can't get hurt by them. When he said "there's no-one else like me" I hope that was a cue in the film to cut to the mad scientist or whatever that IS like him.

Based on the trailer, I really want to see this. Only problem may be persuading either of my kids to come with me. ;D
