You may recall in that group message I sent that I had signed up with another chat forum in an effort to get some new blood in there. Well, all was going swimmingly at first. In fact, no false modesty here, I absolutley rocked that place. Hoo wee, they had never seen anyone like your Irresponsible Hate Monger. They pretty much hung on my every word.. Except when it came to my reviews. See, that's why I joined because you could leave reviews on things, but it seems they just didn't want to know. They were fine when I was ripping into other members and generally being the site bitch, but that was it. And I quickly learned that there was zero chance of any of them heading over here and actually signing up, even though I left my site address at the bottom of EVERY message and in my profile which they all left messages on. So, in true showman style, I announced my retirement from the forum. I didn't give any reasons ("you won't visit my site" sounds a bit petulant) and then asked for all my reviews to be wiped from their site. So I came back in to see if they'd been wiped (not logged in, of course) and check this shit out.. www.survivor-online.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=203604#post203604How stupid are they? Really? Announcing I'm banned on the SAME thread that I told them I'm leaving. And then they actually did a NET SEARCH to try and find me and came up with two random old geezers who happen to be called Curmudgeon. Try and "find me?" I had put a link to MY WEBSITE on every fucking review!!!! Sigh. Anyway, scratch that up to a wasted few hours. Does anyone know any good sites where I could try and spread the good word?

Looks like somebody on that site found this thread and digs. They seem to miss you over there. I've been known to kick up some online shit, but that was mostly in the days before every message board was modded by powertripping retards who drive off anyone willing to lay down an honest opinion or even a genuine suggestion. Those guys seemed like nice enough folk. Couldn't find your reviews, though. They always generate some...mmmm... I'm going to say "interesting" discussions.

Well, see, I thought that too, Trashy. I figured that a range of different things, from movies to music from now to a few years back would be a good range of things to get people talking. That was the point, I wasn't expecting them to sit and chinstroke over my review, but like on here a review of, say, an Eminem song could begin a discussion about how shit modern hip hop is or something, I dunno.
But that's the main reason I put all my reviews on here (as well as "insurance" in case Amazon wipes them if they get too many complaints). Take YOUR review, Trashy, on the Wicker Man. Now, that's only a few days old and there's not many people on here, but its branched out into talking about the sequel AND how cool your big TV looks! That was the entire point behind the reviews on that new site too, but they just saw it as me being a boring egomaniac. And only one of them is right. It's the second one.
But I've been back in there (not as The Curmudgeon, obviously) because I sent the mods (and someone else) a private message. Plus its always nice to see what people are saying about you. And hey, who wouldn't miss The Curmudgeon?!
You know, there's a chorus to a Joni Mitchell song that seems pretty apt right about now..

An aversion to the banal mainstream is an uncommon taste. Just like in real life, most websites where you monger your irresponsible hatred for such things will largely generate reactions from people who just don't get it. Other sites where you can try and spread the good word? One message board which I frequent serves as the center for discussion for two websites devoted to Godzilla and other giant monster shee: Club Tokyo (a collectibles site) and Monster Zero News (a news site, surprise). You have to enter the board's URL address directly into your browser to get there due to their security features, but here it is: www.clubtokyo.org/discussIf you decide to join, I'd recommend utilizing that board's search feature to see if there are any existing threads pertaining to the subjects of your reviews. For anything that isn't, by all means start some new threads. Discussion tends to be good over there, especially more towards stuff pertaining to movies and television shows. I'd recommend starting your posting off with those kinds of reviews. Also, feel free to join in the discussion topics already going on there. Godzilla and monster movies are the main theme, but the liveliest parts of the board as of late seem to be centered around current sci-fi/fantasy releases like Iron Man.

I think I used to be a member on that board, Benjamin, but since G:FW came out I haven't frequented any kaiju sites because there's just nothing much going on in that genre at the moment. Maybe when the next batch of 'Zilla films start coming through the chute....

we arent all bad honest..... your reviews were a little full on, i only read the Eminem one because i like his stuff and admire his wit and intelligence in many of his lyrics! In guess my critisism is that they were all such dire tunes to pick and many of them old news, so I didnt see the point, you would have done better introducing them to something new music wise, as opposed to copying and pasting threads from elsewhere - just my opinion of course but then im a bit more passionate about music than some of the other members over there

I get your point, but the idea was that there were some old and some new, so the majority of people will have heard of the things I was talking about.
But hey - it wasn't a waste of time after all. If I was going to attract even one person from another site, the person with a love for the original Star Wars trilogy, Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd etc was the "Win" option for me.
Just don't go getting a big head about it.

Yeah we'll see about that. Battle of the Ego's.. it'll be talked about for YEARS. Edit your post and get rid of that apostrophe IMMEDIATELY! If we're talking egos, Groucho's your man. He's a legend, he told me. And your summation hasn't helped at all.
