The limited Amazon Suggestion Series - Part One!
For anyone who follows these reviews (and if not, why not?), you will know that I've just finished my last limited series of Positive ones, and so it's back to business - reviewing the day to day garbage from Amazon.
Except here's the difference; its ANOTHER limited series. This time, though, its God-awful stuff - as suggested by YOU. So feel free to send me any suggestions you have for movies or music that lies festering on this site that needs to be destroyed by the Irresponsible Hate Monger.
This first suggestion comes from fellow Amazon player and one of the main faces on my website - Ben. So, Ben - this one's for you.
Isn't racism GREAT? I mean, seriously, being white OWNS. Look - here's a chinese guy adhering to every ignorant racist stereotype we've put upon them. He looks like a NERD! He can't sing and he can't dance! Listen to his silly accent! Dammit, give the man a big camera to sling over his neck and make him tell us "he's so sollee." Awesome.
Ahem, seriously though, I had never actually heard of this "Hung" person before Ben brought him to my attention. I first felt two things when watching this moron "sing" on Youtube. One was utter disgust that this creature not only had a record deal, but had brought out more than one token novelty effort. The second was a bit of relief - because, phew; looks like Britain isn't the only one that gives record deals to the comedy half-wits.
William Hung, then. The main point, the ha-ha-larious gimmick was that he auditoned for American Idol despite not being able to sing. Simon Cowell rightly sent him packing, but that wasn't the end. Because the Funny Foreigner package is a guaranteed money spinner, and his albums and guest appearances at ball games and such was simply a more politically correct way of laughing at retards and not feeling bad about it.
You know what? I don't really blame William Hung for making these records. He was delusional enough to audition for the show in the first place, so he was either looking into a crystal ball at what the future held for him, or he actually thought he could sing. So releasing records of cover versions was surely the point for him, as that's the point of ALL American Idol contentstants. No, the blame for this cretin releasing records lies sorely at the feet of the people who bought them in the first place.
This refers to a number of people;
1. Idiots who buy anything from American Idol because to them its the only source of music available in the world.
2. Idiots who think because they own a William Hung CD they're now somehow part of the counter-culture, that he's this "cult" figure they're being so original and diverse by listening to. Newslflash - when someone is discovered on the biggest show in the world, they are not a "cult" figure.
3. Idiots who buy into his back of the cereal box "believe in yourself" brainwashing hogwash and think, because he's without talent that they also have a chance to "make it" too. A role model for the hopeless - just what we didn't need.
All of these people have one thing in common. Did you spot it?
There really isn't anything left to say. For anyone who's heard any of the tracks, it goes beyond "funny" and "cute" to just boring and sad. William Hung is doing more damage to the Asian people with his (deliberate) pandering to the racist image than any KKK or hate-group could ever do, reinforcing decade old images into impressionable young people, that "hey.. that's what Chinese people are like."
Novelty records are one thing. This is an offensive, lazy product from a guy either clever enough to know what he's doing but too greedy to care about the consequences, or simply an easily led simpleton being exploited by record companies for a fast buck before his star fades.
Either way it shouldn't be allowed.
