The ones done in the nineties, before Lucas began adding connections to the dreadful prequels. My only problem with them was the Jabba scene in New Hope, otherwise, I felt that the additional music and effects improved the movies.

Agreed except for Greedo shooting first. That was absolutley unecessary and looked like shit. How many pro bounty hunters can't shoot a man from the other side of a fucking table? I rmember watching Han shoot him under the table and thinking "That is SO cool!". Then I saw the special edition and many a "WTF" ensued. The newer editions also changed a few classic lines that pissed me off, like Luke's "You're lucky you don't taste very good" to "You were lucky to get out of there". The original line was so much better, what excuse could there be to change it!?! The Jabba scene is the single most dreadful thing to EVER happen to a classic film. So awful. Fan's anger isn't over the fact that Lucas made the SE's, I think, it's that he made them the only game in town and acted like a bitch about releasing the originals as they were (perfect). I'm actually one of the few defenders of the prequels. They were crap in comparison to the originals, but pretty damn entertaining by any other standard. They were each just some awful acting and a few obnoxious characters (including the unspeakable Jar-Jar) away from being great. Better direction and an extra rewrite by a true SW fan would have made them awesome.

I can't think of any real problems with the Empire re-do. From what I remember (I've only seen it once) the most notable scenes are extra footage of the Hoth Monster, so I had got a bit of a kick out of it, truth be told. The Jabba scene in Star Wars is horrific (yeah, like Jabba the fucking Hutt would just let you walk over his tail), not to mention the "you're a wonderful human being" line. So they removed the "lucky you don't taste good" line (which I don't remember, thanks for that Trashy) but they couldn't change that one?
I hated the song that was added in Jedi. Instead of the awesome Max Rebo Band they had some obnoxious muppet sqwaking at the camera. AND they removed the Ewoks song at the end too. Bastards!
I don't mind scenes being ADDED (like the Hoth scenes, and, grudgingly, the Jabba scene) but what was the point in removing or changing things that didn't need it in the first place?

Yeah, that Jedi musical bit was pretty cheesy.
