The musical equivalent of testicular cancer.
Sometimes you just have to do things out of principle. I mean, why am I reviewing THIS album? A novelty Scottish abomination from the X-Factor? Is there anyone, anywhere, actually going to read this review on this American website? In fact, scratch that, if this was a British site it would probably go unread as well. For while they're still playing dismal, empty venues to about ten dismal, empty-headed fans, the rest of the civilized world has long since forgotten them. So why am I bothering to review this, when I know full well it will remain without votes and without comments? Well, like I said - its about principle, true believers. The Curmudgeon prides himself on the fact that this collection of reviews I have compiled are of the very worst things available to buy, and so, even if everyone else on the planet ignores this album, I must not. For dear God above, if you need a perfect example of music that deserves to be in the Official Room 101 of Amazon, its a record by The MacDonald Bros. It's quite simply one of the most wretched things ever created. Take a look, if you would, at the track list for this excrement. Now, if that list of lazy, uninspired cover versions doesn't make you want to vomit into your lap and then go rip the heads off hamsters then you don't deserve to be reading this. Or breathing. Seriously - to what form of life is this body of work acceptable as "music"? The songs (all covers, of course) are the most generic, easy and obvious choices for any band without shame to stick on a disc and call it an album, for listeners who just simply don't actually like, know or buy music. It's vile, cynical and more than a little insulting. So another bland, soul-less lump of bile unleashed on a brainless army of scum who only know music if it comes packaged from a reality talent show, created by two dead-eyed, charisma-free chancers ready and willing to sing the most popular songs possible in an effort to sell vapid, dressed-up elevator muzak. This record deserves to be thrown on the floor and crushed under the heel of your boot. And the fans of these two, if such a loathsome creature exists, need to be rounded up and gassed. So yes, it is quite possible that no-one will read this review, but the MacDonald Bros are where they belong on Amazon - the ranks of the Damned. The world just became a little brighter.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Prefab singers like the Ronald McDonald brothers (do they fry up artery-clogging hamburgers and fries?) are the reason why the music industry is the beached whale it is today.
BTW--if you want some more AWFUL music to review, check out Colbie Caillat, Lily Allen, Katy Perry, Kate Voegele &Kate Nash--the MySpace divas who "hit it big." Mind-numbing blandness. Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly" will induce you to reach out for several helpings of bubbly,to make you comfortably numb.

Gotta disagree on Kate Nash and (certainly) Lily Allen on the "bland" comment. Kate Nash's "Foundations" was a pitch-perfect pop song, miles removed from the production line dross from Cowell's cretins. And Lily Allen is one of the best British pop stars in years.

Every time I give your reviews a helpful vote,it gets deleted. I gave helpful votes for the most recent reviews... and now they're gone,a mere couple of hours later. Obviously,my votes don't count. Talk about sabotage!

Just becuase you don't like them doesn't mean they only have 10 fans? Eh? Wtf? They have played to numerous sold out veus during thier 3 tours since the X-Factor. So get your facts straight pal.

Evidently the boys' Mothers take exception to your comments, Curmudgeon.. Ladies - in particular, Pauline - if you're going to express your views in a forum, can you at least take the time to learn to spell. And perhaps even stretch your talents to using whole words.. "Thier", "obv" "veus"... Is it any wonder teachers of the English language are sobbing into their books nowadays?! And sold out venues only count when (a) the people attending have more than 100 brain cells combined, and (b) when the venue in question isn't a phone box.

ORIGINAL COMMENT FROM AMAZON.COM
Well You are WRONG. I live in America and I read this review. I have watched the MacDonald Brothers on YOUTUBE and have seen many of their X-Factor Performances. True they are not breaking any new ground but they make a good team and they have a lot of charm and the fact that they are both good looking doesn't hurt either. Your review was way too harsh-you sound like a very bitter person. Just my opinion.

YOU ARE WRONG - I live in AUSTRALIA and I have read your totally misleading and unfair view of this album (dare i call it a review?)...May I suggest cleaning out your ears might enable you to hear this album with the appreciation it deserves....The Macdonald Brothers are a talented duo with a great vocal sound. On this particular self titled album two of my favourite songs are 'When You Say Nothing At All ' and 'Fields Of Gold'...with many other favourites listed, including '500 Miles', 'Shang a lang' and ' Love Is All Around'....And so what if these are covers? The Macdonald Brothers make these songs uniquely their own, leaving their vocal stamp for the enjoyment of a broad audience.
