Strange title, yes. But don't worry - we're not here to talk about fruit.
Its rare that a new advert (or commercial for you space age Americans) makes you sit back and take note. It's even rarer that news of a new advert makes you smile. Most adverts are dull. Most adverts are just time for you to go do something else. In the cinema, most adverts are so you can get a last minute piss.
But then, the adverts for Orange mobile phone aren't most adverts.
The ads themselves, then. A simple premise; a movie star tries to sell his new script to a bunch of idiot executives who are funding it (in this case - Orange). They ruin the idea. Tagline? "Don't let your mobile ruin the film. Switch it off." Brilliant.
It's weird, because even though the main guy in the ads is American, and most of the guest stars are American, but I would imagine these ads only get shown in the US. Maybe I'm wrong - do you get these ads in the States?
Anyway, if you've seen them before or you're seeing them for the first time, this is the place to commend the idea that its ok to make smart, funny ads that basically insult your own product.
With Patrick Swayze
With Sean Astin
With Snoop Dogg
With Macaulay Culkin
Love it.

Although I don't watch much TV, I can't say I've ever seen these commercials here in the States. I can't say I've ever heard of Orange brand mobile phones either.
These commercials are great though.

Wonderful. Do they play these before movies in the theater, or just remind people at home about theater etiquette?

Wonderful. Do they play these before movies in the theater, or just remind people at home about theater etiquette? They're usually the last trailer before the film starts, basically reminding people to switch off their phones before the film starts. Which leads to an entire audience fumbling in their coat pockets for three minutes. Man, what was I thinking?! I put in those ads and I forgot this one.. with Darth Vader
