Seriously, they're making this video game. At first I thought it was a stupid idea, but then I saw the actual gameplay.

Looks pretty damn awesome. I couldn't find the videos I saw (which were all sorts of badass), but you get the idea. I'm surprised they aren't showing Wonder Woman yet. All I'm saying is: no Black Canary, no sale.

Hmmm.. I dunno, I would obviously play it, but it just looks more of the same jerky, oddly joyless Mortal Kombat gaming to me. And Marvel vs Streetfighter was first, and awesome.
The choice of characters doesn't sound great, either. 10 characters each? That sucks. I would be surprised if Black Canary was in that little list, Trashy.

Yeah, MvSF was wonderful. The gameplay in that video was way inferior to what was being shown the other day at E3. It looked way more polished and there were some spectacular visuals. Sadly, most people couldn't name 10 DC characters that aren't Batman villains, but the developers were saying they'd love to do more characters as downloadable content to please the hardcore fans. They are putting Captain Marvel in this which is just awful. I can just see the little kid going "Shazaam!" while the announcer starts the round. My list would be - Batman
- Superman
- Wonder Woman
- Flash
- Green Lantern
- Catwoman
- Black Canary
- Green Arrow
- Raven
- Martian Manhunter
Yeah, that is a shortass list. And the big names take up a lot of it. They should have Oracle as an unlockable bonus opponent. When you do a fatality to her your character could kick the wheelchair out from under her and just stand there laughing while she flops around. I'm such a dick.

Political Correctness; thy name is NOT Trashcanman.
You know, I hadn't even thought of fatalities. If you think about it, how the Hell can someone like Superman perform a fatality? Doesn't that, like, go against his entire character?
And Lobo needs to be in this game.

Yeah, good call on Lobo. Pencil him in instead of Raven on my list, too. The heroes will have "brutalities" and the MK set will retain some fatalities. For example, Superman can apparently pound his opponent into the ground like a railroad spike. Since the game isn't going for an "M" rating, I expect the gore to be toned down. I totally want to see Superman get his spine ripped out.

What IS it with Superman anyway? Every comic book fan totally loves seeing Supes get his ass kicked. When Marvel and DC merged, everyone was outraged that Superman beat Thor, (which, really, how the HELL could that happen?) or when he fought the Hulk and Hulk broke Superman's jaw. There was also a great crossover with Aliens when Superman got knocked out when the Alien's mouth-on-a-stick thing popped out and bit into his forehead - I LOVED that bit. So he's the most famous superhero ever; why do we all want to see him get pwned?
Is it because he's so momentously unlikeable or is it because DC have their hands tied with his invulnerability and can't think of more than one way to hurt the fucking guy, making most storylines pointless?
Saying that, the "running through walls" bit looked awesome.

There's a saying that goes something like "nobody ever roots for Goliath". The guy is too squeaky clean, too overpowered, too boring personality-wise, and just an all-around overrated character. In the right hands he can be very cool, but for the most part he just isn't that interesting.

Hmmmm. The Joker beating Superman in a one-on-one match.
See, sometimes things sound good on paper..

Update on this one; I just saw the Joker's fatality for this game..
While I don't like the idea of him being a fighting character (boxing gloves coming out of boxes? Urghhh) even I have to admit that his fatality is very in character - and pretty damn cool.

Indeed. And Deathstroke has been added to the list of DC characters as well. No arguments about that one. In fact, why didn't I think of him?

Have Doomsday as one of the main bosses and I'm sold. Ah, who am I kidding? I'm sold anyway, but you know what I mean.

The final roster revealed www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169887Lex fucking Luthor!?!?! COME ON! That's it, no sale. I want Goro and Canary, and shall accept no substitutions. I will, however, rent this as it still looks like fun.

No Aquaman???!
And, like the link says, a pretty poor line-up when you consider the 56(!) playable characters Marvel vs Capcom had..
I would probably buy it, but certainly not at full price. It would be fun to kick the snot out of Superman though.

How about kicking the snot out of Superman as Lex Luthor? So very wrong it's almost right. The roster is terrible by current fighting game standards. This combat system had better be DEEP. Aquaman truly is the whipping boy of DC fandom if he couldn't make the cut over a semi-obscure villain like Deathstroke (who would own every motherfucker in this game given that superpowers have been nerfed).
