Your opening sentence has Depp as Joker; which could work, but the article says Riddler. I'm not pleased. Penguin doesn't ring my bell at all and Riddler's M.O. is too close to Joker's (with leaving clues and all that). I'll watch it, naturally, and almost certainly enjoy it, but I wanted at least one femme fatale and anojther villain that hadn't been done to death yet.

Whoops. Hey man, that's those fucking sleeping pills. I made that post at 3am after my pills didn't make me sleep but made me kinda "foggy." Hence, confusing Joker and Riddler. I would never even have noticed that.
Um... yeah, a lot of people have said the same thing about Joker and Riddler - they ARE too similar. Unless they tone down Riddler to be more of a comical clown than psycho, that is. But I think it could be done well - with question marks all over the place and all that. I don't know how Penguin could fit into it all, though. But it does seem like Bale is going to be overshadowed again by the villain. This will be the Depp show all the way.

Well, scratch Philip Seymour Hoffman off the list as Penguin. Turns out that rumour was just that..
“No one has talked to me about it ever — never,” replied Hoffman. “It happened, like, five years ago, too. It was a rumor back then and it’s still a rumor. [laughs] It’s just in the press. It’s funny.”
To further cement this issue, Hoffman added that he’d never met Nolan (”Maybe I did or met him in passing?”), and that his interest in comic book movies is purely on a fan level, and he intended to keep it that way.
“I’m such a fan of those movies,” related Hoffman. “Comic book movies in general I look forward to — I am a real cheerleader for them. I want them to do well because those are terrific stories. As a kid I was a big comic book collector. What [Nolan]’s doing is taking it in a whole other exciting great place. I’m more a fan, so the interest of being in it isn’t that great. It’s more the interest in wanting to see the next one. It’s probably better that way.”
When further pressed for his level of interest in the role if Warner Bros. approached him about the role, Hoffman said, “I don’t know. I think I’m more interested in seeing someone else do it. I don’t know if I’d be a good Penguin to be quite honest. [laughs]”
So you may well get your Catwoman wish after all, Trashy. Out of interest, who would you pick to play her?

Thankfully, that rumour proved to be false.. www.comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/5007.aspJesus - can you IMAGINE how bad that would have been? And I would be all up for seeing Jolie as Catwoman. Wet dreams aside, I think she would be ideal.

Some chin-stroking theories about TDK and what they all mean for the sequel which I thought I would share with you all. These are all cribbed from Empire magazine, which normally doesn't indulge in pointless net rumours, so they may have more plausibility than others..
The Joker was under order from someone else. Isn't it weird how the Joker, maniacal chaos bringer, was able to construct such brilliant, elaborate schemes? Maybe he was just doing someone else's bidding. He did say "do I really look like a guy with a plan?" Also, during the ferry explosion scene, he's sitting with a piece of paper in his hands. Instructions?
The Riddler IS the next villain! During the internet teasers, one letter was signed Edward Nashton - the real name (and not Edward Nigma), of the Riddler. Hmmmmm. And, the lawyer who tries to reveal Batman's identity in TDK was called Mr Reese (mysteries, gettit?)
No, Catwoman's the next villain!
Batman's new armour should protect him "from cats." Why the hell else would Lucius Fox say this?
So there you go. In a few short months all the could be/should be's will be moot, but its still fun to guess...
