And not just on the net in Curmudgeon mode. No, in real life and everything, this guy (seriously) called me arrogant. Why?
Because he said One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Fight Club were "shit."
So I rightfully said to him, "what are you, ignorant?"
And he said, "maybe. And you're arrogant."
To which I replied, "yeah, definitely. But arrogance beats ignorance."
But it got me thinking; do you stand up and defend the great and good in the face of stupidity and ignorance, or do you just shrug it off and leave the morons to their worthless opinions?
The other day, for example, I got asked who Ming the Merciless was. Fucking Emperor MING, God dammit. Who doesn't know HIM?!
I've met girls who have never seen a) original Star Wars and b) an EPISODE of the A-Team. They didn't even know the theme music!
How do these people get by, man?
Anyway, have you met such ignorance in your life before, and do you go out of your way to "educate", or do you just let it pass you by?

A middle-aged woman yelled "FUCK YOU!!!" into my face last night. Spit flying and everything. After she stormed out, I laughed until my stomach hurt. Admit it: life would be boring as hell without morons in it to entertain you. I seldom bother educating people because they don;t fucking deserve it. If somebody seems legitimately interested, I'll break them off some, but otherwise they can choke on their ignorance and continue paying money each time they vote on "American Idol" for all I care.

OK, now you've got me intrigued, Trashy - WHY did the woman scream at you?

Well, my foreman at work got demoted for making a football pool on his computer on company time. Ours is a work environment where we talk a lot of trash and mess with each other a lot. So this kooky woman comes in and is sitting back-to-back with me on her computer and a co-worker who just heard that the foreman was caught asks her with a big grin on his face "so what, did you turn him in?" to which I answered JOKINGLY "you KNOW she's a big ol' snitch!", shit-eating grin on my face, fake black woman mannerisms and all. Yeah, some people can't take a joke. She whirled on me and let me have it. The story I didn't know was that she had threatened to turn the guy in a few days prior. So basically, we hit the nail on the head and didn't even know it. I say if your own actions embarrass you so much, then stop doing those things. I'll happily fess up to the things I do; and if that earns me some scorn, that's just the price of admission. But hey, you can't buy comedy like a middle-aged woman with only cats for friends freaking out right in front of you.

Shit, guilty conscience or what? I can imagine the "..... did that just happen?" faces on all concerned after she stormed out. Ha. Excellent.
So is she being socially blackballed after being outed as a snitch?

I spent about 10 seconds after she shrieked/spat on my face looking at everyone (her included) to see if she was messing with me back and trying to get me all scared as a joke. Dropped jaws all around and burning rage in her eyes told me it was no joke. She's a crazy fucker anyways so the next day it was like nothing happened. Where I work, this is NORMAL! The only difference is that I'm never involved in any of it because I'm an even-tempered guy who minds his own business and goes out of his way to keep the mood light. Our shift is peaceful; it's when the graveyard shift comes in that the psychotic behavior comes into play.

So what's she like with you now? Still edgy and hissy, or has she pretended it never happened (that shit always happens with me..)

She's a woman. Of course she pretends it didn't happen. Maybe in her mind, it never did. I don't care much; it's almost impossible to hurt my feelings.

I've probably got a good story of my own to relate, but my brain's a bit fried. However, sounds like some people out there just need a little direction in their sad, wretched lives:

Trashy- The guy got demoted for making a football pool? Harsh, man. Harsh.
Curmudgeon- Ignorance cannot be combatted by intelligent people.
