Have YOU claimed your free drink from Dr Pepper yet?
Its small news over here in the UK, but apparantly Dr Pepper are getting severe negative press after failing to live up to their promise of a free drink for EVERY American if the Guns & Roses album was ever released.
Guns N' Roses have accused Dr Pepper of defrauding their fans and failing in a pledge to give every American a free drink if "Chinese Democracy" was released in 2008.
The beverage company famously launched the exclusive offer earlier this year, as the rock world awaited the band's first album in 15 years.
People hoping to apply for online earlier this week, when the record finally came out, are said to have been met with serious technical difficulties.
Lawyers for Axl Rose have now called on Dr Pepper to make "an appropriate payment to our clients" and publish a full-page apology across the US media.
In a letter to the firm, Rose's lawyer Alan Gutman called the scheme "an unmitigated disaster which defrauded consumers and, in the eyes of vocal fans, ruined the day of 'Chinese Democracy''s release."
In response, Dr Pepper say they extended the giveaway by 18 hours and set-up a free phone line to deal with the huge demand.
As much as I don't care about Chinese Democracy, I do love seeing multi-million dollar companies getting fucked over by their own arrogance.
So get on the bandwagon and claim your drink NOW!

Bleh. Buncha shit. It was funnier when the Offspring announced on April Fools day a few years back that their new album was called Chinese Democracy and antagonized Axl further by stating that since no existing product bore that name that it was wide open. Best April Fools prank ever! Why Dr Pepper would make such a statement is beyond me. Since when do soda companies give a shit about rokc stars?

I'm going to have to agree with Trashcanman. What the hell does Chinese Democracy have to do with Dr. Pepper?

Simple - free and easy advertising.
Well, that was the PLAN, anyway...
