This must be a first - a sequel to a sequel that's better than the original. Has that ever been done before? Well, Return of the Living Dead III has that honour. Ditching the dorky comedy moments from the original (and pretending the ghastly sequel didn't exist), ROTLD 3 was a mini-masterpiece. From the (almost) always reliable Brian Yuzna (he of Re-Animator fame), it had a number of things going for it; decent acting, good story, some genuinely frightening moments (the opening scene with the crawling zombie will have most with their hands over their eyes), and, oh yes, let us not forget.. Julie. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mu9p-WuAeE&feature=relatedRemove the spike from her hand, the rock from her other hand and, well, the fact she'd kill you - and man oh man she's smoking. I remember watching this as a young Curmudgeon and feeling very confused indeed. Like.. is it WRONG that I still would? No, it's so, SO right. What's that, Ron? Totally.

I've mixed feelings on this one. I think it's a good movie and a great concept, but teen angst is like my kryptonite. I found it a bit depressing and out of step with the first two. I thought the comedy was funny, myself' even in the second one. Still, I see why people love this one so I can't bash it. So would I? Mmmmmaybe.
