I actually prefer the one way at the bottom which predates KILL 'EM ALL. This logo, swallow you whole.  However, I'll say that the MASTER OF PUPPETS one is only micrometers behind.... |

Middle-right side. I've always thought it looked the coolest (but I think they only used it on their Live Shit box set), even though the Master of Puppets is the classic style.
Maybe it's just me, but anyone else hate the stupid fucking ninja star? It's just so... lame.

I love how one of the guys on the discussion board in your second link proposed they make prisoners talk to Lars for hours instead of playing the music. Of course, that would probably just kill the prisoners.

Of the ones pictured there, the top-right logo from Ride the Lightning would be my pick. But my all-time favorite would have to be the one from the "Creeping Death" single.  Maybe it's just me, but anyone else hate the stupid fucking ninja star? It's just so... lame. I dig the star (surprise, surprise) and I intend to get it tattooed between my shoulder blades. I want a Metallica tat that doesn't outright say the name "Metallica" and the star (more like a swastika in design, I'd say) fits the bill. Middle-right side. The ninja star thing would be a great tatt, Benjamin. I know what you mean about a tattoo that would look pretty cool to the "untrained" eye, but a fellow fan would recognise it instantly. I can dig that.
Be warned, though; I've got the "danger" sign you see on electricity pylons ("danger of death! Keep away!") tattooed between my shoulder blades, and the word "pain" is a cheap and redundant word in comparison.
