First of all, kudos to Q magazine for the title of this thread. And the idea behind it.
Anyway, it's simple - bad albums by great artists.
What albums have you bought, thinking they'll be great because everything else by that band/artist has been superb, only for it to be utter shit?
The first one that springs to mind for me would be from a band called Terrorvision. They were a British rock band that I had a serious soft spot for, and their previous albums always had serious rotation in my CD player. Then "Shaving Peaches" came out, and it was one of the worst albums I'd ever bought in my life. It was as if they had completely run out of ideas. They were singing about being hypnotised, for fuck's sake. There were barely any half-decent songs on it, and I LOATHED it. Of course, this being Idiot Britain, their biggest ever song, and worst ever single ("Tequila") came from that album, so that shows what I know.
Bowie's had a fair few stinkers as well. Not from the 90s, as some may imagine, (although Black Tie White Noise was pretty horrendous) but from the 80s. Did anyone want Bowie to sing with Tina Turner? Or a turgid cover of God Only Knows? Well, they got it on "Tonight." Ugh.
That's two from me - let's have some from YOU.

The album "Diver Down" by Van Halen. There's this awesome cover of "Pretty Woman" and then a lame cover of "Dancing in the Streets". Those are the standout tracks. The rest is just crap like "Happy Trails" acapella (no joke), and a duet between David Lee Roth and Eddie VH's wife....on clarinet. Biggest waste of $10 EVER! I'm not in love with the Clash's "Combat Rock" either, but the good tunes on it are so awesome that they make the album worth owning in spite of the shocking abundance of half-baked crap.

Whoops, I completely forgot about this thread. I may as well bump it because I'm sure our new members will have some suggestions for this one.
So what's that album all about, Trashy? It sounds like a covers album which - 9/10 times are shit anyway.

It's the WORST covers album. Maybe the worst album ever, period. I only listened to it all the way through once. "Pretty Woman" is brilliant, but I don't remember liking anything else on the album and I LOVE everything VH has ever done that wasn't with Gary Cherone (who was fantastic live, btw). Every song. But only one tune on "Diver Down". The very definition of a dog.

So do you ever sell or trade your CDs, or do you keep them there to gather dust?

Dust. But I only own a max of 3 or 4 albums that I don't like so it's not an issue. I listen to all my CD's again at some point in time. Except fo the odd Godsmack or Limp Bizkit P.O.S. that I bought I'm very careful about what I spend my money on. There's not enough of it!
