Here's one for ya Trash: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8155542.stmIs this a deeply offensive and insensitive publicity stunt, cynically exploiting Nuremburgs painful recent history - or are the bonkers Brussells beaurocrats at it again, and no-one should give a shit? What about freedom of expression; the protection of which is written into various Euro treaties? Does that over-ride the feelings of the German people; sensibilities still sore from the horrors of the Reichstag? What evidence is there that he's Seig-Heiling? He could just be waving to his Black-Shirt fishing pal in the garden next-door... Nazi Gnomes; it's a dream come true for me. It's taken me a lot longer than usual to compose this post because I had to take laughter breaks - but is it actually funny? Is it really a squalid middle-finger raised to the millions who suffered under one of the most evil regimes ever encountered on earth? Is it art imitating/satirising life or just notoriety? [And how the fuck did I get over here....?]

I think the question SHOULD be "how the fuck did this topic originally end up in the "introduce yourself" section?" Unless you're trying to tell us the picture of the saluting gnome is you, I imagine you fucked up, Mr Ess.
I remember reading a few years ago about a guy who cut his hedge to look like a man waving, and ending up getting reported to the police because of complaints the hedgeman was actually a Nazi.
What is it about gardeners and Nazi fixations?

This should be under "hot topics" yeah?
I believe it's against the law in Germany to have such things up, but I think it's paranoia. A nazi gnome is cute and hilarious. If the owner is willing to endure the social consequences of displaying something that offensive, I say let him do it. I think it's stupid and will give people the impression that he's a neo-nazi himself, but like I said if being an outcast is fine with him, the gnome itself is doing nobody any harm.
